WOMEN ARE SACRED

The finishing touch to creation. Some things words can’t explain. She is one of the wonders of the world. However, in many cultures, it’s the woman’s fate to be subservient. It’s usually found that a woman is treated as inferior. Understand that men of real worth, respect and love their wives. This is no accident. A man succeeds in the world to the same degree that he loves his wife. The insecure treats his other self like a dog or a horse. Consequently he is little more than an animal himself. A man who loves his wife will conduct his life properly to please her, thus he will rise up in the world. To such a man his wife becomes a source of strength and refuge. Thinking of her not as a possession, but as a part of himself, like the heart, the soul, a finishing touch. There is a mystical significance to the love for a woman. Out of love for her he goes out into the world to be a success. This is a great virtue. I believe that the more prevalent this attitude is, a truly beneficient social order would once more come about and the virtue of an indigenous nation would be restored. Imagine if we could teach our daughters to value their bodies and brains for what they can do, not for how others think they look. To understand as females they define the word feminine and that it doesn’t define them.

SAVAGE UP

Upon wakening, you have numerous opponents waiting for you. It’s your behavior that invites trouble from them. Never let their presence upset or distress you. Without enemies we grow lazy. An opponent at our heels sharpens our wits keeping us focused and alert. The wise man profits more from his haters than a fool from his friends. Without worthy opposition, a man or group cannot grow stronger. A native must never let his physical conditioning be the reason for defeat. Physical conditioning is like boiling water. If you don’t heat it constantly, it will cool. Chiefs who find themselves in a constant state of their own limits will be best prepared when an unforeseen challenge presents itself. Fight one more round. When your arms are so tired you can hardly lift them, fight one more round. When your nose is bleeding and your eyes are black, fight one more round. Remembering that the man who always fights one more round is never whipped. Forget about winning or losing, forget about pride and pain, don’t be concerned with escaping safely. Do not look back once the course is decided up. Lay your life before him. As an indigenous, noble people, warfare is part of our culture, tradition. Violence is never the option. Unfortunately when it is, it’s the only option. Speaking on it so the people may live.

VOICE FROM THE INSIDE

There are a lot of good people stuck in the rabbit hole of the justice system. This shouldn’t be surprising as character is not made out of sunshine and roses. Like steel, it is forged in fire between anvil and hammer. So in the spirit of my ancestors, I turn to a warriors philosophy for conquering the challenges of life. Seeing every day as a battle that must be fought. There’s no way out, victory is the only aim. In the battle of life, as long as you are fighting, you are winning. As a people, if a Nation desires peace, it must arm itself. Our arms must be mighty ready for instant action, so that any potential aggressor may not be tempted to risk his own destruction. In order to be tough with others we first have to be even tougher with ourselves. Face your fears. Our Creator didn’t place fear in our hearts in order to destroy us, but rather to guide and protect us. If you never experienced fear, it’s probably because you’re living too safely beneath your capacity avoiding challenges. If your dreams don’t scare you their not big enough. Dare to succeed by cultivating the courage to fail. Be willing to do what others won’t do so you can do what others can’t do. Be so strong nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Forget the mistakes of the past and focus on the achievements of the future.

TRADITIONAL MEDICINE

Remember when food was our medicine? It has the power to regulate weight loss, pack on muscle, give energy and even beat disease and live a longer healthier life. Eating is easy, making the right choices is crucial. Food can also make you fat, lose muscle, feel fatigued and succumb to disease. Our ancestors lived in a world with few ready to eat snacks. Fruits-berries-veggies. These are nature’s versions of fast food. Mother natures ingenious nutrient delivery operation got pushed aside when food manufacturers started producing less perishable foods with sugar, flour and preservatives. We now consume in two weeks the amount of sugar our ancestors ever dreamed of. The more a food changes from its natural state, the more harmful it’s going to be to the animal that consumes it. Added sweeteners and refined flour are the most dramatic examples of this. These are more like consumer products and less like real food. Sugar and starches are digested rapidly flooding the bloodstream with glucose levels are bodies never adapted to handle, wrecking havoc. That’s basically what Diabetes is, with side effects like blindness and death to name a couple. There’s nothing complicated here. Every day you make decisions that lead to a longer life or a shorter one. Cut out added sweeteners whenever possible. Eat real food. The kinds of our relatives ate before the diabetic obesity epidemic. Rule of thumb: The fewer the ingredients the better the food.

WE ARE ALL RELATED (TRIBAL TRIPPIN')

Not long ago enmity emerged between the Rez dogs and the wolves. So the dogs voted a Doberman to be their General. But the Doberman was in no hurry to engage in warfare. He said “Understand why I have not initiated warfare against the wolves. This threat is all of the same breed, all of the same color. Solidarity exists. Our numbers have different interests. Each one is proud of his own breed. Even our coats are not uniform. Some are spotted, black, white or ash grey. How can I lead into battle those not in harmony and fight amongst each other?” The knot is made of 1000’s of smaller knots, all twisted and intertwined. As time goes by the knots get more entangled. Instead of trying to untie it, cut it in half. Once divided it will come undone on its own. In any structure the joints are the weakest link. Within any organization people naturally form smaller groups. These subgroups form power bases that will threaten the organization as a whole. These factions will naturally work to secure their own interests before those of the greater group. The herd inevitably shuns the black sheep. They are uncertain whether or not it belongs among them. So it lags behind or wanders away where it’s cornered by wolves and devoured. So keep your differences in your thoughts, not in your fleece.

BRING IT TO THE TABLE

The secret to success and importance is in making yourself useful to others. People will invest time and energy in those who can benefit them the most. Make them depend on you for happiness and prosperity. More will be gained from such dependence than self righteous superiority over others. If you create no need for yourself, then you will be done away with at first opportunity. So does civility, decency and respect. Two horses were carrying a load each. The front horse went well, the rear horse was lazy. So they piled the rear horses load onto the front horse. The rear horse found this easy and said “Toil and sweat! The more you try the more you suffer.” When they reached camp the owner said “Why should I tend to two horses when I can carry all on one? I better feed the one well and cut the throat of the other, at least I shall have the hide.” Such is the fate (to a less violent degree one hopes) of those who don’t bring it to the table. Concentrate your energy on things that make you valuable to others. Your competent commitment, energy and creativity you bring to your tasks. Be the only one who can do what you do. You become their strength, intelligence, their spine. What power you hold. If they get rid of you the entire edifice would collapse.

LIVING DEATH

I see this from time to time. Prison has been described as having a permanent black cloud eternally present in the atmosphere. In this frame of mind the body decays. Someone may feel physically sluggish, mentally foggy, unenthusiastic, bored, with a tendency to procrastinate. They would like to sleep for as long as they exist. Like the hinges on a door they toss and turn but are going nowhere. In this state, one is in the state of living death. One thing is certain in life, it’s ever changing nature. The animals in the wild understand this. After a lavish summer, come the trying times of Winter then Spring follows. Try not letting everyone in on your misery or wearing your heart on your sleeve. Even the most sympathetic people would rather be in the company of a winner. Those who contribute to your crises, do not give them the satisfaction of knowing they got the power to hurt you. Find a way to utilize the weakness and turn it into strength. The absence of negative experiences in our life does not alone contribute to the quality of our life. As a noble people, we need challenges and by confronting them and overcoming them we develop fully. If you contemplate the negativity enough you will discover that they are in fact the strongest assets in your personal, professional and spiritual development. I don’t pray for, I choose to live with the unshakable inner strength of my ancestors to accept these harsh lessons and learn from them and not be destroyed by them. There is no one out there you have to conquer, when you have successfully conquered your-self, the world will be at your feet.

DRAMACIDAL

Mental discipline is as vital as physical toughness. Uncontrollable emotions are to a natives character as a drop of poison is to a well of spring water. Learn to see emotional responses to situations as a sort of disease. Showing frustration shows you’ve lost the ability to shape events. Everyone thinks they govern their behavior with reason and thought. What dictates their actions is the emotions they feel in the moment. How we confront situations determines our fate. Control is not in what one does, but in what one does not do. The foolish actions you refrain from before you dig your own grave. Overcome the tendency to react, elevating yourself above the battlefield. The mountain lion toys with the squirrel that crosses his path. Any other reaction would destroy his fearsome reputation. Contempt is the prerogative of the chief. Where his eyes turn, what he chooses to see has reality. What he ignores is as good as dead. After all it’s the cold blooded animals whose bite is poisonous. Beware people who operate in a whirlwind of emotions. These manifest from an inward instability that radiates outward drawing disaster upon oneself. This weakness often heralds a downfall. When you allow such people to operate, you will find your mind and time occupied by their problems.
