Books Behind Bars | Add a Listing | FAQs | How to Help | Shipping Books

Once you've sorted through your books and selected those that meet the criteria, it's time to pack and ship them. Here’s how you can do it efficiently and cost-effectively:

Shipping Instructions

1) Packing Your Books: Carefully pack your selected books in sturdy boxes to prevent damage during transit. Ensure the boxes are securely sealed.

2) Choosing the Shipping Method:

U.S. Postal Service's Media Mail: This is the most economical option for sending books. Media Mail rates are significantly lower than first-class rates.

Parcel Post: Another budget-friendly option provided by the U.S. Postal Service.

3) Including a Donation Cover Letter: Print out the Donation Cover Letter and place it on top of your book donation inside the box. This helps the receiving organization identify and process your donation quickly.

4) Contacting Organizations for Shipping Assistance: Some programs that need books might offer to cover shipping costs. It’s worth reaching out to them directly to see if they can provide a shipping agreement.

By following these steps, you can ensure your book donations are sent safely and economically to those who need them. Thank you for your generosity and support!
