Hi!!

Could you people please explain to me what Corrlinks is and how it works? and how come my pp hasn't mentioned anything about emailing? Is it because not all prison are connected to this service?
do you email in "real time", like a chat room?

Thanx! I'm an :airhead: for these things :dunno:

My penpal is in Wisconsin and they have 2 or 3 (can't remember) computers. And yes, he has to wait in line, but only a few minutes. When they got paid for their work, monthly, the waiting is a bit longer, but not as long as for the telephone, which is usually half an hour/45 minutes.

So federal inmates have access to the internet or are the computers at their prisons programmed so that they can only access to Corrlinks? and I guess they must have a lot of computers at these prisons or else they'd had to queue... this is very interesting :)

So, do a lot of prisons in Texas use this service as well? Just wondering. Sorry if this has already been answered in other posts.

The only state prison system that uses corrlinks is Iowa.

It's not only for Federal prisons, it's also for Iowa prisons. It is free to message a Federal inmate, but NOT to an Iowa inmate. It costs 25 cents per email to Iowa inmates. The federal inmates are charged 5 cents per minute, including time to read our messages to them. As far as in real time, when my pp emails my, my yahoo pops up a message saying you have a new email from *&$*&%$ via corrlinks.com. My pp can only get onto kiosk every 30 minutes, (if no one else is on) to reply to any messages I send. But all in all it's a great set-up, as we send an average of 5 messages each, per day. Besides that we have set up my cell phone so once she gets so money put onto her phone account, she can call me direct... yay!

Corrlinks is an email service for federal prisoners.. Its free for us but they have to pay to use it. but its not too expensive. Its not like a chat room and all emails are monitered by corrlinks staff so there is abit of a delay on the emails.
Im not sure if its JUST for federal prisoners but i think it might be.
