I got a letter today from a PP and he had an interesting question. He asked me to find out something for him. He said when he gets released he would love to become an EMT. He wanted to know if someone with a felony can work as an EMT? Can they? I googled it but didn't see anything definitive. What types of medical careers can a felon have? Thanks!

I understand you. No one wants problems at work and proceedings. I personally have been looking for a normal job for a long time during the quarantine and could not find my place of residence on indeed. But I was lucky enough to find a good job in my profession on the jooble website. You can go to the following link to read more of the main information on the subject of choosing a job. Personally, it was more convenient for me to search for vacancies on this site. Where did you find your job?

The system of execution of punishments unfortunately works very badly. As a rule, people at the exit only become more embittered, and they can not do anything. It doesn't make any sense.

In the UK if you are an offender you can still join the NHS as a paramedic as long as your offense is neither voilent, sexual or drugs related in nature. I recently had a client who was a trainee paramedic before he was sentenced to 6 weeks in HM Prison Woodhill for assualting a Police Officer in the execution of her duty. As I represented him in HM Magistrates Court he asked me to represent him at a Midwife and Nursery Council Hearing to determine his competency to practice as a paramedic. The council ruled that even though the offense was violent and that it was further aggravated by the victim being a Police Constable the offense was a summary offence (the equivalent of a misdemeanor). Therefore the ruling was that he could continue his training as a paramedic but it would be down to the individual NHS Ambulance trust to determine his suitability. So I suppose it depends on the severity of your penpals offense and whether its an excluding offense.

not chance. they won't care HOW you became a felon only that you are one. i wanted to re-enter nursing school...yeah right, not gonna happen.it won't matter what level of a felon you are either.the ONLY thing a felon can do as far as helping a person is drug counselor....which is human services.i don't know about other branches of human services though, you could ask a college counselor. oh ha ha silly me duh!! this thread is a year old! i'll leave it in case this comes up again.

I just popped onto facebook and my friend also added this:
Also, tell him to try and take as much responsiblity as he possibly can. Start out by saying something like "I did some dumb things." Even if they don't approve him they will remember him.
OK, I got his response:
I would tell him to go to the county he intends to apply to, and talk to someone face to face and explain his situation. That will be the only way that he will know for sure. The county will at least respect him for talking to them. They are the ones that have the final say if someone gets hired. I had to do it too.
I dont know how much that will help but its a start.

I really dont think getting an EMT certification would be a problem at all, except maybe if it was for drug convictions, as having to deal with administering meds, etc. The problem will be (unfortunately) finding a public or private ambulance service that will accept a felon. I have a longtime good friend that is an EMT in CA. I will message him and see what he says, and get back to you right as soon as I know.

I just emailed the EMS licensing person in the state he is in so hopefully Monday I will get a reply. I never thought about it but it must be hard to be in prison and be of the mindset that you want to have a good honest career when you get out, only to find that your career choices are so limited being a convicted felon :-(

In the state that he will be doing this in, ask him what program he plans attending, community college, etc. (it's at community college in Portland, the two year EMT course.) Often, these programs are listed online along with the college's policies. A quick 10 minute read ought to bring you what you want, or, a quick call to the office of that particular program.

I know that felons get out and go to college, so, I don't know if/what parts of that are cut off to them. It is a really interesting quest, though.
