Im writing with a inmate and he requested me to make a account on gettingout.com because its more faster to have contact.
I have to put my phone number in and i did, but its said that its not a valid phone number. I tried it diffrent ways. The land code is put automaticly in it. Thats +31 because im from the netherlands. Have more people this problem and what can i do about it? Its hard to have contact with the website i tried facebook and email but they dont respond.

No I didn’t get an invoice. You can get your us number on Sonetel.com its about 2,10€ a month and the premium account is 9,90€ so that’s all what you pay for the number. The cost for 30 minutes would be 4,80$ but you will have to confirm the number by calling them. So download the app from Sonetel and when you have the premium on you can call Telemate for free and your your number will appear on their screen :)

Hey, how did you sended a copy of your id card? I had them on the phone but i think i heard the emailadress wrong. I also readed that if you buy a US phone number that they will send you a bill of $25 because its not alowed to do that. Thanks for your help
oh I forgot you can get a US phone number on sonetel.com, they are about 2.10€ for a month, also take the monthly plan of 9.90€ if you gonna have a lot of phone calles and the forwarding to your phone will be free :D

I'm from Europe too. So you need a US number and the cost will slow down, like 4.80$ for 30 minutes calls. I opened my account online but had to call gettingout to confirm it and I needed to send a copy of my ID.

This is what I received back from them when I wanted to set up the account and completed their online form to do so.
They sent an e-mail to me.
"My name is Esther and I am a visitation specialist here at Telmate. I have received your email regarding about wanting to create your account.
I would be more than glad to create your account for you if you can please provide for me the following information:
First and Last Name
Phone Number
Email Address
Password that you would like to have(More than 6 characters)
Date Of Birth

I know that you have already provided us with some of this information, but if you could please just reply back will all this information I will be able to create your account for you."
I replied and attached ID etc and it was fine.
i just looked back in my e-mails. I had to register my e-mail address first and then the phone was separate (where I had to call and go through steps with them to register the phone number). It will take a bit of time but it is possible.
If you give your PP your e-mail address - they can send you an e-mail link (it will come from the system not directly from them) and then follow the steps on there to set it up. My PP originally sent me an invite on the system several months before I signed up but I did eventually and then later with my phone number.
You should be able to resolve all these problems if you speak to them.
It's a while but I think maybe I had to provide something with confirmation of my address on but it was fine to still set up an international address. I certainly had to send in ID - passport or driving licence (which has address on).

Yes i tried it but the second problem is that you need to put your adress as you register on gettingout.com. and what i see now is that you can only put a adress in the U.S
Use sonetel for an American number it will verify straight away and you can video visit straight away. It’s a free trial for the number too :)
GO don't connect you to a prison. It will ask which Prison your "contact" is at though. They will need that information and the inmate's name to set up the account with your phone number.
Okay thanks. I called them few days ago, but then I was connected to a prison. so I thought that was not good and then I hung up. I'm going to try again.
Also for information, international calls are v. expensive $15 for 30 minutes and they go quickly so just be aware of what you are signing up to and if you are to be paying or if you PP is going to pay. The msgs through the system are useful and are 0.25 per msg but calls are expensive.

You can make an account with getting out with an international number. It's just a bit of a pain to set up. You will need to call them (I'd suggest buying a phonecard to make the calls to GO with as it's expensive) and they will set up the account over the phone with you. It's the only way to do it really. They don't respond well on e-mails and I've never heard of a response on FB.
But it is possible. It's strange but the way the numbers are set up it's not even e.g. 001 31 or whatever the country code is or even dropping the zero as someone suggested.
If you spend some time on the phone and get through to customer service, they will be able to do it with you.
You can probably get such a thing from Google Voice. My number is from them, and it just redirects to whatever number I tell them. Of course I'm in the United States so I never tried to get a U.S. number from outside the country. I can't imagine it would be any harder.

He is in the state Oregon. In his letter he asked me to make a account on getringout.com that is the most easy for him and we can also videochat
Oh okay, but when i wanted to register there was a whole list of countries where u can choose from. Dont know why they put that there if you cant use it. So it means that i need a american phone number? Thanks for your reply
With getting out I wasn’t allowed to use an international number maybe this is the problem? I spoke to customer service on the telephone who advised me that was the problem so I use a US number now hope this helps :)
That's okay on the English. I'm sure it's a lot better than my Dutch. We have a lot of Europeans here. I think they actually outnumber Americans, which saddens me because I wish my countrymen would respect our incarcerated fellows more. It surprises me how many of you can speak understandable English. It's a little rougher than a native speaker's, but still good. The only foreign language I can speak at all is Spanish, and even that is pretty rough.

I haven't heard of gettingout.com. It sounds like a service for your pen pal to have E-Mail contact. What state is your pen pal in? Depending on the state, JPay or Corrlinks might work better.
