Hi everyone.

I wrote to three inmates near two months ago via the WAP email function where they print them off and send and you recieve a response in the mail. I haven't recieved a response from any of them. I logged into my account today and noticed that my address said Country - United States (absolutely no idea why) when in fact I live in Australia. I definitely specified my state and Australia when I filled out their email form. Is it possible that the wrong address was supplied for them to reply to?

Thanks for your help.

Hi there, sorry for the delay. I've never done so but I believe you can just visit https://writeaprisoner.com/inmate-new-listing (or alternatively, list an inmate in the menu above and then click list new inmate profile) and fill out all their details. Their profile can then be made and posted and people can begin writing to them! Hope that helps.

I need help with trying to figure out how to get someone to write my friend who is in prison. I'm border line computer illiterate. Lol

I only intended to send them one letter via WAP's email function (WAP only allows you to do so once anyway) and then communicate via mail. I did get an email upon submitting them stating, "Thanks for writing X." I've contacted WAP to let me know what return address was supplied, we await.

It looks like that when you do not have an existing account and use the WAP email function it automatically makes an account with whatever email you supplied. As when I went to post this and create an account, it said I already had an account! After I went through the process of 'forgot password' the account that was created had my P.O. box number and the U.S. I assume that when it creates the accounts, it defaults to that. I just hope that when they sent them off they used the address I actually supplied when filling the form out because I definitely specified Australia! I've noticed that since the revamp, the email function automatically shows the address contacted to your account rather than asking for it.

I've contacted WAP and awaiting a response! They should be able to tell me what return address was provided for them.

Thanks for your response.

Thank you so much for replying.

I did not include them in my actual letter, but I did fill out the form that asked for my email and address. WAP specified that you do not have to include your address in the actual letter because they will format what you've written into a letter and print it off to send for you.

I wrote a couple inmates through their email - my first time - and forgot to put my return address in one of my messages. I was afraid they wouldn’t include it so I contacted support and as it turns out none of my letters were sent due to some kind of error where my info wasn’t submitted or something. They asked me for the inmate info and said they’d send my letters out this time. Because of this easy oversight on the sites end I would recommend contacting them this time to send your letters and then changing to writing and mailing them yourself - that’s what I’m going to do from now on. This way you can make sure it’s actually sent, know when it was sent, and even add tracking info if you want to in order to make sure it arrived.

Oh darn! I included some friendly smileys but they don't show when my message is posted. No fan of this new forum, GRRR!

Yes, it's possible that the wrong reply address was supplied. The website (and forum) have been revamped recently, and so far it's not exactly an improvement. It could be a bug in the system that sticks to 'United States' when you fill out your country. It may be a good idea to contact WAP about it and have them check if it's an error in the website.

Maybe a D-toured reply is on it's way but if you don't receive anything you could always re-send your letters by snail mail of course.

@Thucy82: if you write your first email through WAP, you have to fill out your postal address first and it's automatically included in the letter. Having to include your postal address in the body of the email goes for other email services such as Jpay. Just FYI smiley

I have never used the e-mail service, I wrote letters that I then sent from the post office.

Are you sure you included your postal adress in the e-mail ? The inmates can only reply by mail and quite a few of them specify in the profiles that it's important correspondents include their adress, so that the inmates can reply to the printed e-mail by a letter.

Hope you get a reply soon nevertheless !
