Hi there,

it works the way that someone has to choose your son as her/his penpal and write to him.

It can happen that some people have to wait longer. There also are a few who don't get penpals during the year their ad is up. There's no guarantee for anything.

Reasons for not getting a pp might be multiple:

- People who committed certain types of crime have it harder finding someone to write

- People without a photo tend to get less mail than others

- People whose profile comes across as one from a dating site tend to get less mails also.

Plus the ad itself... It's not alwasy easy to phrase things in a way that makes a profile individually outstanding, as different people have different criteria for choosiing and look at things differently.

What you could do is contacting WAP and request them to put him on the "needs mail" list. I don't know exactly how long an ad has to be up with little or no mail to be put on that list, but my guess would be three or four months.

Good luck,

Kirsten

I would love a letterI am a man with a foot in the past, I love the 50s clothes and style as well as the vehicles, but most importantly I believe in and try to live the manly virtues of that era. I also have an eye towards the future and appreciate what technology can offer, I just choose to not let it dominate nor dictate how I live my life, My interest are anything mechanical, music, good food and most importantly really understanding my place in the universe. I would like to have frank, deep and meaningful conversations or correspondence with a thoughtful woman who could help me with her own unique perspective on how we each find our way in this chaotic world. I can guarantee the same, I will share openly my thoughts and perspective. What I can offer uniquely are a lifetime of mistakes that I am thankfully through the help of God and my family learning from to the point that I have begun helping others. So if any of this interest you I would love to hear from you.  LCCF c/o Jason Skaggs #71010 6900 West Millen Drive Hobbs NM 88244

He is on jpay but knowing my luck if I send it by email he wont receive that one either lol I guess I will just have to persevere.I received an email from his mother today and he still has not received my letter there s a surprise. He does want to call me at least we can talk on the phone and I can explain that I have written but he knows that because he asks his mother constantly. Its frustrating for us it must be even more frustrating for them waiting on your letter to arrive its all about mind games I should know that after corresponding with DR inmates for the past 25 years. If his letter does arrive think I will end up passed out on the floor with shock lol.

Thank you for the information, someone know how many time in average we need to get an answer from an inmate by e-mail ?

Inmates have zero access to the internet so no, they cannot reply using a computer.  If you sent an email through writeaprisoner, they print it out and send it to the inmate via snail mail. They'll then snail mail you back.

Hi people, I would like to know one thing. I sent yesterday and e-mail to an inmate located in Arizona, I know they don't have access to Internet, but is it allowed for them to answer on a computer in a company of a guardian ?

Best

I believe SQ has Jpay, it's a prison email service. You can write your letter online and the mailroom gets it printed and forwarded. (Well, they should anyway, lol) Check if you can find your pen pal on Jpay: https://www.jpay.com He can only reply by snail mail but Jpay could be a good way to send him a little note.

Patience is a virtue lol ty for your reply CLW its the 1st letter ive written to him however I have been incontact with his mother for the past 2 years since I became interested in his case.He always asks her if I have written and he always sends his best wishes.I have never experienced this problem with any other facility when writing to DR inmates.I will write another letter this week and enclose some cards by the time he recieves that letter it will be xmas possibly New Year.It was mailed from the uk on the 5th October it  can take from 7 to 10 days.San Quentin are way behind  the 21st century. Why you cant send an inmate a letter online is beyond me so frustrating

I don't have personal experience with writing SQ, but from what I read on here SQ mail is notorious for being slow. 6 weeks wait or letters never arriving are no exception. Apparently SQ has an ongoing lack of (reliable) mailroom staff, I guess it's not something that's solved easily. It must be frustrating for your pen pal too. Try re-sending your letter(s) or write another one, all you can do is be patient and persistent.
