There is some nasty women on that forum... But hey, I mean it is what it is... I just got a call today which is awesome to hear her voice again, but not awesome that someone tried to stitch her up for something she didn't do. I just had to tell her to be strong and don't bite, and I had to tell her to stick to her program. She agreed of course and said "why would you screw up your program and run the risk of losing the school program that you worked so hard towards."  She's actually been doing all of the free college courses that she can get her hands on, on the inside so that's good.

I think I'm a good influence jut to tell her to be careful and think about everything else you could lose including your future (and the risk of extra time) for some deadbeat who is being a pest next to the phone trying to get all the latest gossip. I told her to let the guards deal with that.

Yeah I closed mine earlier this year.

It is a great source of information but I agree that it’s best to lurk on PTO!

Northernyank

I actually just sent an email this evening asking to close my account. Majority of the threads and comments are from years ago.

I do find a lot of interesting things on PTO but for me as I've found out its better to lurk than participate, and some things such as the above where unqualified people feel free to give their advice about health really just made me annoyed. Anyway, I get on better with the people here than the people over there. I guess I'm still venting because I let an overly opinionated know it all like "yourself" (her username) to get under my skin like that...

Don't get me wrong she knows a lot about a lot of things from her personal experience but a lawyer is the absolute last person that should be giving medical advice. She is a protected species over there though so don't get into being on her bad side... you'll be run out of town.

Northernyank

I find PTO to be informative on a lot of things I'm curious about, but it also turned me off when I read this thread about how resentful some prison wives (before they went in) feel towards MWI. My love and I have been a couple of months so far. I'm going to visit him in July.

If it helps I don't write directly anymore about who any of my current penpals are. Hell, to be honest I don't even write to anyone else anymore. We've had this conversation and come to our own conclusions about this. Some weird guy did extend her profile here... for what reason I don't know exactly. But we don't write anyone else and don't make any advances towards doing so.

There are some real problems with Prison Talk which led me to being banned because there's some lady there that is a lawyer but has to have an opinion on everything including mental health despite having no medical training what so ever. She ended up stalking me, we had one too many arguments, and I ended up getting banned because she's quite the popular member over there with the admins. But in any other sense she would be seen as quite the unusual character.

It takes up to two hours for a message to go through. I only get two or three messages a day, this is quite normal. Taking out of account 6 hours or so out of a day that leaves about 4 hours or during the morning, afternoon and night when you can expect some sort of answer and that's if you expect them to be up until midnight just to answer your mail.

@IL_PPP Just some married woman who thought she was in a relationship with my man.

They were penpals. Even Administration had to tell her that if he wanted to call then he could and that it’s all on him as they definitely processed her application successfully. He just never wanted her on his list like that.

She caused a lot of problems to the point where I don’t think he even writes anyone platonically anymore!

@spriggs omg what happened with PTO? Care to elaborate?? They’re very............ black and white over there.

Bunnie78

I'm new to this forum but been talking to someone I care about for awhile. Anyway can anyone help us figure out email interface? He's receives my emails and I only get one or two thru out our day. Our corrilinks works fine but we enjoy the service better. Just a bad time for things not to work. If any one has any knowledge of it pls let me know.

Not anymore, we broke up a week ago. No hard feelings and we still remain friends, it does feel a little weird though, after all those years.

Still around! I stopped using prison forums for a long time because they were too much drama and there was someone having a direct affect on my relationship (PTO. Not WAP). Fun times!

I still find them a useful source of information though and if I can help someone out with my 5/6 years of experience then all the better. I'm still learning new stuff every day myself! Not just about the American prison system but about the rewards and struggles of being in a relationship with a man that is also an inmate (and occasional pain in the a**! Haha! but seriously :-D )

PDS

I’m a MWI marriage. Been doing this for five years. It is so worth it! I just hope he makes parole soon.

Good luck guys!
I met my husband when he was still in prison.
He's been out 4 years now. It can work!

So am I

BabyBlueEyes

It’s been 10 months for me. I wasn’t even looking for a pen pal and look where that’s got me haha. I’m hoping to visit next year.

FrankieBones

Its been 9 months since I didn't intend any of this to happen  lol surprise

This thread didn't live for very long.
Are there still any MWIs around?

Not crazy. It's part of this longdistance relationship thing; and with someone you can't even visit in a normal sort of way. This is what we signed up for.
It doesn't sound very attractive, when you put it like that, does it? But that's the deal, take it or leave it (talking to myself too here)
I get where you're at; I have three and a bit years too in the same situation. No doubt we have similar ups and downs.
But if the relationship is worth it, I don't mind. I can handle it.
And it's SO worth it

Hang in there, Spriggs.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas despite the 'crazy' longing ;)

He does tell me that I must be crazy for loving him but he must not realise how incredible he really is!
One of his friends got a 'Dear John' letter today. I just think it's that time of year anyway and my emotions are running high! I feel so bad for this guy too. I can't imagine writing that letter to my man knowing that he is stuck in there. Right before Christmas too. Not that it would make it much easier any other time of the year!

Yeah, we don't sell the idea very well, do we!? :110103_fantastic_pr
Certainly wasn't the plan to fall in love with an inmate though! So for tonight I just have to hug this glass of wine instead! :wine:

Merry Christmas to you also! And yes...it's SO worth it and we are strong here! We got this! :rainbow:

Does it sounds crazy that I'm really struggling with my man not being here right now even though he has never physically 'been here'!? I am missing him like crazy.

'Missing you comes in waves and tonight I am drowning'

Over 3 years in to the relationship and it never gets easier... :sigh:

Thanks fo starting the thread, I write two young ladies, both in for the same thing, just a coincidence on that. I have a special connection with one, long story on that.
