Hi everyone

I'm located in Australia and my pen pal is located in Idaho (IMSI).

I was looking into getting a Skype number to accept their calls with. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if that would work.

If anyone had any other suggestions I would love to here them. Thanks!

Thanks Rins!

I was hoping to try that next time we called, but now I'm no longer receiving calls?! I found an older post which said that switching the number seemed to work and that maybe their original number was too local to the institution, but I really don't want to have to pay for another number. Has anyone else had this issue?

Yes you must use the  dialpad from Skype then it should work.

I couldn't accept an incoming call last night (either by pressing the corresponding number on the dialpad or by saying it). I was wondering if you or anyone else has experienced that issue? And if so, how you managed to resolve it? I was thinking next time I might open the call in the Skype app and try use the dialpad from there, hoping that would resolve it.

Thank you so much.

No worries. I just use my mobile data and it's just like a regular phone call.

Thank you so much for responding. Yeah, I was concerned about the costs incurred for my pen pal. I was just curious if it would work before I commited to paying for a Skype number. I just have a couple more questions if you don't mind me asking. Do you use WiFi (if so, how is the connection?) or just use mobile data? Thanks again.

Hey. I got myself a Skype number so it doesn't cost my pen pal a lot to call. I have had no issues with it. It costs like $9 a month or there abouts :)
