Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well. So basically my PP and I have been communicating via JPay for over a month now. He wants to send me a proper handwritten letter and a little gift of something he has made for me in prison which I think is super sweet and I would love him to. However, I'm super nervous as I live with my parents and they don't know I have a prison PP. He told me that it would just be in a plain envelope, and doesn't have like a stamp on it to say it's from a prison or anything like that. But I was under the assumption that it would have some sort of stamp on to say that it has come from a prison or have the prison return address on it. Does anyone have any knowledge of this? I did try and Google, but all I could find was that each state does different things so I was hoping someone knew for definite what Idaho prisons do with their outgoing mail. He is in South Idaho Correctional Institution. Thank you. smiley

I imagine there is possibly some law that says the prisons have to show that the correspondence is from an inmate. They can't keep tabs on who every inmate is writing so if they perhaps write to their victim or someone that really doesn't want contact with the inmate - that person knows before they even open it.

California and Louisiana both have prison stamps on the outside of envelope.

Yes. A stamp on the front.
Inmate Mail or Inmate Correspondence mine say. 2 different states. First state uses black ink, 2 uses red ink

Farfromhome, how does it say that it's inmate mail? A stamp on the envelope?
