It sounds like he doesn't actually want anyone to write him!
But his response is a bit much although I imagine it's likely coming from a place of hurt which is being misdirected at you.

When you write to inmates, you will be confronted with facets of life that are uncommon and foreign to most of us who have never been incarcerated ourselves. But it's like everywhere in life: Things don't go away when I insist they're aren't existing, didn't happen or whatever.

I guess, learning how to speak up about things is sth. everyone has to learn to some degree. At least, if you want to find connection and build a bond. How else than on letting the other person who you are can you do this? Or wouldn't you like to be liked for who you are? ;-) How, if you don't show it?

Good luck and happy writing,

Kirsten

Agreed with Kirsten, your penpal just got frustrated that people keep disappearing on him. Ghosting is never the answer.

Thanks for the reply Kristen, I'm not really good with confrontation so I just not replying would be the best, but I totally understand him thinking I was ghosting him. I'll delete him from jpay now and not reply now. But will definitely keep this in mind for future reference. Again thank you for  the response :)

I once got a real bad first letter and I mean really ugly. "didn't sit well with me" would definitely have been an understatement. But even then I wrote a short few lines like "Sorry, I don't think we'll be a good pp match, good luck in finding another one." Not replying back is ghosting and just bad manners. Just delete him from Jpay, because to this jpay I wouldn't reply anymore. But if you don't like a first reply, a polite goodbye is really better than ghosting.

And no, I don't think it's threatening, just bad maners, anger, frustration and helplessness.
