An inmate I am corresponding with has asked me if I would be able to submit his drawings to the inmate art gallery. Is it possible to do this? Or would I need to send money to his account in order for him to submit his artwork to the gallery? How does that work? How much does it cost to submit artwork? Any help with understanding the cost and the process would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I've decided to email the folks who run this website as administrators to get their answers about how the Art Gallery works. I will let you know what I find out.

Thank you, mjuran! Yes, using Instagram or a free blog or free website would work. I would still like to know how inmates get their work posted to the art gallery on the Write A Prisoner website.

I don't know anything about the inmate art gallery (I'm going to look that up next) but, I also have a pen pal who's a serious artist (i.e., his art is practically his life) and he very much wants to be able to have his work on display somehow, online.  When I first met him he was talking about someone else who had agreed to "set up a website" for him to display his art, but since that seems to be taking a very long time, I was interested to see if I could do something similar for him too or instead.  I think there must be free or low-monthly-cost blogs that could be set up for this purpose, or an Instagram or fb page, for individuals to show their work online.

Hi Susie, my PP is also an artist and I'm relatively new to all of it but I have made an Instagram page for his art. He sends me mostly A4 drawings or paintings then I photograph them and put them up. There are several Inmate art galleries on Instagram, so I'm sure you could find some links to the websites or have a look on Facebook if you are a member and have a look.
I'm not hugely familiar but there's a couple of big ones like "Ink from the Pen" and a new one called "Art for Redemption" - I'm sure Google can provide some more on different ones in different parts of the world. As for cost, Instagram is free so I really have no idea about submission costs.
Best of luck to you and your PP though
