How to set up an account for an inmate

Sometimes I wonder what to say... Honestly, the link on how to set up an account for an inmate has been posted 3 times on this thread alone. And yet, this question is still being asked again and again. Just scroll down the thread and read it. 

Or read the site's FAQ. Or go up to where it says "List an inmate"

You go to https://writeaprisoner.com/inmate-new-listing and create an Inmate Profile for him.

Make sure you have everything (Photo, Bio, etc.) ready. Making changes to a profile later on costs extra.

Maybe lock at some other Profiles first to get a feel of what you or he wants in it.

When you created and paid the profile it needs verification. So it may take 2 to 3 weeks till it's online.

Christine, I found your son's profile on here. So, that's at least a paid one and not just some smartie trying to find a workaround. I'm not sure what happens when you click on "edit X's profile", as I never tried. In case it works you might just edit. in case it doesn't work you might just email the WAP sters with the email I posted in post #5 in this thread. If you use the link to his profile in the email, it ought to be just a few clicks for them to do. I'm sure they'll get back to you.

Just one more question Kristen I'm trying to just cancel and start over I hit cancel account it doesn't seem to work I'll take money loss at this point can I just put different email etc. Sy heck with it . What Petra said. If you can't afford the money... I don't know whether WAP offers solutions for that - like a payment plan or anything. I really don't know this. But you might ask them by emailing them directly: g e n e r a l - i n f o r m a t i o n @ w r i t e a p r i s o n e r. c o m.

How to start?

I'm getting an error message saying inmate already exists. I googled the guy and his DOC number and he's in Colorado. Why isn't it allowing me to list my son who's in Idaho with the same DOC number? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!

Hello I'm new here I just set up and paid for a profile for my brother I was trying to go in and edit a couple things and add a picture but when I click on his profile it says page does exist on our website please try again mind you I just set it up and paid for it I don't know if I have to wait for it to be approved or what's going on any input or advice will be greatly appreciated

Hey e080295, well, you kind of already have an account. It’s the membership thing that let you login and post to the forum – like you just did below. It’s also required if you want to list an inmate and create a profile page for them.

To do that, it’s easier from a desktop or laptop – just go to the navigation bar at the top of any page and select “List an Inmate”. From the drop-down, select “List New Inmate Profile (MOST POPULAR)”. After that, just follow the steps. The last step is the payment.

Heads up that it can take a week or more for the profile to go “live”.

In pre-Covid times it could take up to 5 work days to list a new profile. I'm not sure if that's longer now?
