Does anyone know, if when an interstate compact is approved, the (former) inmate must reside with their approved supervisor? Ie a family member?

Reason I ask, is my LO will be applying for an interstate compact, his supervisor would be his grandmother, but he'd like to live with me (in the same receiving state of course, i'm not family, not married) is this possible?

Awesome, thank you! (once again!)

That would depend on the Plan of Supervision (proposed residence, proposed employment or means of support, and the terms and conditions of supervision), which is a case-by-case thing. Your LO would have to ask if the plan you’re hoping for is viable.

Thank you ST4s, I understand this, but my question is surrounding interstate compact- if he's permitted to live at an address other than that of his designated supervisor? For an interstate compact, the sending state (where he's incarcerated) requires a 'supervisor' which needs to be a family member. I just need to know if he is required to live with this supervisor, or he can live elsewhere?

In general, are parolee's permitted to live alone?

For parole? Your LO would have to designate your address as his parole address, and you as his supervisor. Afterwards, you’d get a visit from the parole officer, at your home, where you’d be scrutinized for living arrangements, firearms, alcohol, controlled substances, criminal background, etc., and questioned on your willingness/ability to serve/perform as a supervisor. If there’s anyone under your roof with a felony record (other than the potential parolee) it’d be a firm no.
