Hey everybody! A new member, I've been trying to find any topic on the actual letter writing procedure, but can't, is it possible to write the letter on pen and paper? Or does it have to be typed and printed the way in which it prompts me via this website? Many thanks for your help!

No, you are not allowed to sending return postage stamps. People have put all kinds of drugs on them, so that's not allowed anymore... But your pp has or gets postage, so that's no problem.

(And I want to give you a little bit of advice: anything your pp is capable of paying for himself or providing for himself, he will like to do that. Being in prison means being so depended on others that usually pp's cherish all the ways they can take care of themselves. I know you mean very well, but it's better to discuss these things with them first.)

Hi Amandarin, you are so right, there is actually no guidelines for the technical part of writing a letter.

Well, it's perfectly fine to handwrite a letter with pen and paper. Stick to blue or black ink and don't do anything fancy with your letter. Such as: don't use scented pens/perfume, or glitter, or put stickers on the paper, or attach things with paperclips or staples. Know that your letter probably will be opened and read, so don't write any profanity, or sexual language, or anything else that might be considered threatening or offending.

Put your pp's name and number on the envelope (and the right address of the prison of course) and also put your name and address on the envelope. You can do this on the left upper corner of the envelope, or on the backside. Also, include your name and address on the actual letter.

Usually, there is information about mail guidelines on the website of the prison. But if you stick to the rules I've put up above, you should be okay.

I wish you happy writing and if you have any questions left, please ask us. We are always happy to help!

Sorry, I've found the information regarding this, but in regards to sending return postage stamps along with the letter, is this acceptable? Many thanks
