Self-help Guide For Inmates
Why Write A Book
It was with a great deal of pride that we released our book, WriteAPrisoner.com’s SELF-HELP GUIDE FOR INMATES: Flourishing Through Adversity (2017). This book was more than ten years in the making. WriteAPrisoner founder Adam Lovell wrote the book using feedback from inmates, prison staff, pen-pals, family members of inmates, and professionals. He recognized a need to provide this content in one easily accessible place as a way to help friends and family members provide support to incarcerated loves ones. Parents often inquired about ways to help a child prepare to go to prison. Incarcerated people sent letters asking for advice on forging friendships and lasting relationships. Children of incarcerated parents asked on behalf of mothers and fathers for ideas and maintaining family ties. We addressed each of these issues one at a time and then eventually compiled them into this book.
