True Love
11/25/2021

All my life family and friends

Tried to change me,

While at the same time

Telling me that they love me;

But, if they truly love me

Then why do they try so hard

To change the way I am?

For if they truly love me,

Then they would’ve accepted me,

The way I am;

If people can’t love me

For the way I am,

Then they don’t really love,

They only think they do;

And they only do, because they’ve been told

All of their lives,

“To love who is close to you;”

But never truly understanding why

Or what

True love is.

If family and friends can’t accept me

For the way I am,

Then they don’t deserve

To have me in their lives.

For to mold forcefully someone,

That you think you love,

In your own image

Is no love!

But a narcissistic act

To see yourself

In the one you think you love.

For true love is truly blind

In its own way,

It doesn’t see you as

Good or bad, ugly or beautiful, strong or weak,

But embraces you

The way you are,

Without trying to change

A single thing;

For true love!

Sees only love.

Even when it’s not.
