Meet Hector:

My name is Hector Alvarez, and I am 49 years old. At the age of 18, I committed a crime against another human being. At that age, I did not know how to deal with my emotions, which made me a very selfish and self-centered individual. I continued to participate in crime and gang activity in prison because I had not yet accepted my responsibility for the wrongs I had committed.

For the past 31 years, I have been on a long and painful journey of self-discovery. This has made me an introspective and thoughtful person. These hard lessons have led me to confront the warped and negative beliefs I held for so long. Adopting new ways of thinking allowed me to try new and different things. I am now a college student, learning about the Social Work and Human Services field.

I have two passions in life: music and books. My thoughts on crime and punishment are evolving, and I now have a greater chance of being released into the free world. I am very excited about that. I am excited to have the opportunity to show society how much I have changed. I am eager to learn how the world operates today. I hope someone out there will be interested enough to show me the way. Hit me up on GTL Getting Out App or through this website.
