James Royal #1132365

Picture 1 of 1

Sometimes my wants, needs, desires to be befriended by someone whole-heartedly, and be involved in a healthy, loving relationship becomes so strong that it blinds me and leads me in search for a soul mate and friend. Carelessly and subconsciously, although I may have started my search off with caution. I stop thinking and start acting on impulses which opens my up to man-made theories or passion, opinions and philosophies: on what a friend is, what a friend should be or what defines a friendship. I was asked a question. How will you build a friendship with me? I was offered to write something that challenges and engages my mind; not because it was difficult, but because it was different from what I normally do. Asking questions are an invitation to a relationship of “life-giving”…

I allow myself to become so engrossed in my search for friendship, that I do not take the proper time to evaluate nor get to know that person for who they really are. Too many times, I get caught up on ‘that person’ they present themselves to be, instead of venturing deeper for who they truly are, what their intention may be, are they as serious as I? What they have to offer in a relationship could be beneficial for future success or exactly what kind of relationship they may have in mind.

By aimlessly wondering… I find myself in unstable, emotionally, and mentally draining relationships, not knowing how I got there, yet making myself believe I found a soul mate. Sometimes, I settle into staying in relationships where my needs are not being considered and my please for correction completely disregarded. I helplessly continue to ride that roller coaster of uncertainties for weeks, and years, constantly investing more time, trust, and love. Doing whatever is needed to make the love last longer, grow stronger and fashion itself into the relationship of my dreams. Crippled by the delusion that have modified so many minds into thinking that “All of the good women are taken”. I will not compromise my vision of love nor substitute the real thing. I believe that good woman I’m looking for is out there looking for me!

I should look upon past experiences: good and bad, as lesions learned in life and windows of insight to better help me heed warning signs… caution me and help me notice the good and beauty of things…
