"If Life..."

If life could be better, then what would it be?
Would it have you; would it keep me?
Would it be filled with stormy seas?
Or, would it contain fine weather, birds, and trees?

If life was sure-fire, then what could we do?
What should we do? Please give us a clue.
How do we know if this path is right?
Must we be patient and look to the light?

If life forms us, what do we become?
What do we embrace or shy away from?
Do we sit here, consumed by our past?
Or, do we let go and live the lives we were cast?

Do we go on and let sleeping dogs lie?
Or, do we grasp every moment that goes by--
Do we enjoy the days, or do we just run?
How do we get our time in the sun?

If life has a plan, what secret is it storing?
Is this plan exciting, or is it lonely and boring?
Shall the days slip by into the sands of time,
Or, do we accept the challenge and begin the climb?

If life is just love, then why can't we see?
Do we just wait-- let time set it free?
Do we harden our hearts and always beware?
Or go blindly, having faith it will be there?

If time heals all pain, could it be us?
Could we patch up our scars without a big fuss?
For, time is all we have in this world.
But, with patience and love, our lives will unfurl.
