Inner Shine

Praying to God,

This is my clarity.

Inquiring boldly, “Lord my God’;

I see a woman of color.

Though I am alone, I have God.

Am I worthy of friends; what pleasure is in them?

Though men treat them as idols’

While many mistreat them.

To such I will not partake

Expose not my feathers

To increase my potency.

God, only send what I can handle

You protect my modesty

Upholding my integrity

I am content with my God.

Thanking God, my Creator

Each day He teaches me

Showing me true value

Look at the inner woman

As her heart is joyous

Ignore her exterior blessings there you shall see true beauty.

Investing such wisdom

Women of color with inner beauty

Having limited change or opportunity

to adorn their exterior beauty

evincing ample opportunity

exposing their inner beauty.

God thunders in heaven

Lightening strike like arrows

Breaking through barriers

Calling forth His creation

A woman of color

Discovering more than race

In this day of preference

Beauty beyond skin deep

Her inner-being is my focus

Evincing electrified genuiness

My petitions to God

Such energy to absorb

Enrich my mortal coil

My nucleuses rebirth.
