Hello,
My name is José Herrera. I am currently 41 years old. Before immigrating to California at the age of 11, I was born in Mexico, and I am able to speak both languages. I like spending time with my family in California when I can. My favorite sport to watch and play is soccer, and I naturally enjoy running for exercise. I have been incarcerated for 6 years, and thanks to a new law, I should only have approximately 6 1/2 years left on my sentence.
My goal while incarcerated is to focus on self-improvement. During my time in prison, I have successfully remained discipline-free and have maintained an industry job for 5 years now. I have completed a Bible study class and a victim awareness program. In addition to my job, I am currently enrolled in an anger management program, which will be completed by the end of this year.
During my downtime, I really enjoy working on beading and art projects, as well as playing cards with friends. I have also recently gotten into making dessert bars for myself and others. Lastly, I enjoy working out 2-3 times a week.
My goal on WriteAPrisoner is to meet new friends that will have a positive influence on me, help me maintain a healthy mindset, and support good behavior while here and after my release.
