I am a voracious reader and prolific writer. I love nature, fishing, animals, and I try to stay healthy. I am currently an Offender Mentor (Facilitator) in the Building Resilience (Exploring Trauma) Pilot Program for men, developed by UCLA, and it has become my new passion. I have attempted to get re-enrolled in college for the last 3 years, but it has become difficult since they now offer sentence reduction credits for it so now EVERYONE who previously didn’t care about education wants to enroll since they can shorten their time.
I have been incarcerated for nearly 36 years, since I was 17 years old. I am again eligible for parole in April, 2021. Over the years, I have lost touch with nearly everyone in society, even though I had very little contact as it was. It is difficult to maintain relationships never knowing if or when you will ever be released. I would like to regain contact with normal people, outside of the myopic box of prison of prison life since life term inmates in California are actually being released now. I developed a passion for the law (since only it was available to learn from for so many years), and it is supposed to keep everything balanced and orderly in society. When watching the news, I frequently scratch my head and mutter, in wonder, what happened to it and, America’s only football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers?
