The Phoenix Files Continued
Today…I burned my old flame
I was on my way up and she
Was on her way…
In that, I could give two broken
Celibacy vows and honeymoons
Though I doubt a gift to give would
Be easily received…in doubt.
Today…I burned my old emotions.
I experienced a surge of whatever
In my urgent operation to remove
A partial flame that is no more.
Today…I burned all her belongings
And cleansed my domain with
Petitions by nightfall. My rain
Dance couldn’t quench the fire in my
Veins. Yet I danced feverishly and
Set the universe ablaze…ashes
To ashes…she will never arise
From my lament again.
Today I burned brighter than ever.
Oh morning star, look how far you
Today…my fire died but tomorrow?...
The moon shall depart and I will be reborn
In flames like the sun…Tomorrow I will rise.
