The Song Bird Parable
Look inside of my cage
And you will find shade, only in reliance…
For I am a caged song bird
Whose face drowns in torrents, but yet I sing!
Perched on my swing,
I flap and flutter in temperance
My bandaged wings, hurt!
From the fowler’s sling, the foulest thing…
But, but…My crown is king and kingdom
Sky, like, you can’t fathom why
Perched so high,
I reminisce how it feels to reach and breach
Now I can’t feel my high, so I sing!
I sing for my flock
I sing for those chicks
I sing for my empty-ness, yet my songs reach
Your ears in rain dances when pilgrims die!!
My feathers bristle when I leap and bound,
This cage has killed my fly….
Release me please and hear my cry’s…
For I am a caged song bird,
Whose voice was meant to fly.
