Black Rivers Run Wild
5/6/2021

My childhood might seem lacking

Because I’m Blacking

And you consider

Meadowbrook and queensbridge

A place where

Broken dreams

Broken friends

And

Broken bottles

Exist as it

Special hearts

Special babies

And

Special grape cool-aid

Can’t live like

A daddy detained doesn’t

Mean more motherly love

When trying to replace them

With white teachers

Teaching Black rainbows

About who they are

While covertly guiding

To what they’ll be

When that are Black stars

Made so you can see

How they are treated like dogs

That all go to heaven

After leaving you

For seeing their

Poverty as poorness

When they are

Rich in love

Rich in survival

Rich in innovation

Enriching this very nation

Where past prohibitions

Would later

Dare daddy to get drunk

On life like

Aunty’s habit to heroin

Happen to make her a heroine

In my eyes

Showing me that

We all live to die

So it’s why everyone is

Addicted to the life

You’ll never understand

“Nothing

Or

A story

Or

A poem”

And still

Black Rivers Run Wild

Black RIvers Run Wild

Black RIvers Run WIld
