I am from Chicago but my family moved to Oklahoma. The location changed but the mentality didn’t which leads me to my current situation. The streets are a part of me but I am so much more than that. At this point I feel I have to do better for myself and the people that love me. My hope in joining Write A Prisoner is for an open and honest conversation and a friendship, with someone that can see the world from a different view than I have.
I put my status as separated because jail created a separation that most relationships can’t survive. I still have a few years to do before my release. I will be almost 30 years old spending most of my 20’s in prison; in a sense I grew up in prison. I like to read history and nonfiction books to get an understanding of the past in order to build and make less mistakes in the future. I write poetry to help me relax. I study the CDL book daily so I can drive a truck, it’s a goal within reach while I can still level up from there. I don’t have a spill, just regular me and my truth.
