Lost or Missing Mail?

I am waiting on mail from WriteAPrisoner.com that has not yet arrived:

Unfortunately, this is something we are hearing much more often. The United States Postal Service (USPS) is experiencing an unprecedented loss of our mail. It is not uncommon for us to hear from an inmate stating that this is their fourth or fifth letter to us, while in reality, it is the first one we received. While we always reply to all mail, it is impossible for us to ensure its delivery. If you are waiting on something that should have been sent more than a month ago, it is likely lost and not coming.

Tips to avoid mail getting lost:

1) If you are waiting on mail from us to confirm a recent change or addition to an inmate's profile, we suggest you [please view our website] to see if your change was already made. If it was, then at least you know the request was received and carried out.

2) If you must get something delivered to us, try sending it via an institutionally approved email service such as Corrlinks. With this method, you at least confirm the message was received. Please note that just like Postal Mail, we are unable to engage in multiple exchanges on these platforms. We receive hundreds of messages each day, so we must keep interaction limited. We can be reached via email at: [email protected]

3) Mail your letter in a trackable way such as Priority Mail Express or Priority Mail. Certified Mail can also be used, which would require us to sign for receipt of the letter. We cannot respond in the same manner because we would have to raise our rates substantially in order to do this, but you can at least confirm your message was sent and received this way. Be sure to send anything of value using one of these methods.

4) To track mail, please visit USPS Tracking.

5) To report or follow up on missing mail, visit USPS Missing Mail.

Follow these steps to increase the likelihood of your mail being delivered:

1) Do not draw on or add stickers to your envelopes.

2) Neatly type the 'return and 'to' address in all capital letters. If you must write the addresses out, print them very neatly. Avoid cursive.

3) Be sure all envelopes are flat, not thick, by limiting the contents to no more than necessary. We understand sometimes you must mail several pages, but try to avoid this to keep the envelope as flat as possible.

4) Add "RETURN SERVICE REQUESTED" at the very top center of your envelopes. This instructs the carrier to return the mail to you if there is a problem with delivering it.

5) Use only black ink on your envelopes.

6) Use the same size font for both the 'to' and 'from' addresses.

7) Include your full address on each item in the inside contents, especially anything important, like photos. Be sure to do this for each item. If they become separated, the items are more likely to be returned to you.

8) Only use stamps you purchased directly at your prison or from USPS. There are many fake stamps being sold online today. If you use these, whether on purpose or by accident, your mail may be seized and destroyed. Worse, you could face legal repercussions for even using them.

I received someone else's mail from WriteAPrisoner.com due to a misdelivery by the postal service:

1) If it is someone at the same prison, please return it to the mailroom there so they can give it to the intended recipient. Keeping mail that is not yours, whether in prison or outside of it, is criminal, so please do this immediately to avoid potential problems.

2) If mail was sent to the wrong address outside of prison, would you please send it back to us at the address below by postal mail so we can get it to the intended recipient:
