My name is Gilberto Garcia, but my loved ones call me El Gato. I'm from the beautiful city by the bay: San Francisco, specifically from the Mission District.
I've been incarcerated since 1994. At the young age of 16, I was taken from my mother's home and have been warehoused for the past 30 years. I'm soon to be 47 years old, still paying for the mistakes of my youth. However, I have not wasted my time. I have been preparing myself for my possible release. I have a life sentence but will go before the Board of Parole Hearings in May 2025 (almost home...hopefully).
I have educated myself and continue to do so; I strive to keep the dream alive! Currently, I am in college. I was married for six years, but recently, we decided to separate. These walls were designed to divide, and a woman can only hold on for so long. When one is used to someone's presence, it's difficult to let go...but necessary at times. As mentioned above, I may come home soon, so I must remain focused on what matters, and that's getting out and staying out.
I'm seeking friendships of all ages and walks of life. All letters and texts will be answered. I'm looking for friends who can keep me busy and focused, and who are willing to become a beacon and guide me home.
If you want to learn more and get to know me, reach out directly. I have a tablet. If you don't have the app, download it, and you can reach me directly.
Thank you for your time, and have a wonderful day.
