While dreaming one night, I had dreamt
A tale to tell…
I dreamt I saw an Angel. She wasn’t looking
Her body bruised and battered; wings ripped
I saw she could barely walk, She was tired
And all so worn.
Walking over to the Angel, I had asked how
This could be?
She could only look up at me. As she did her best
To smile. As she said these words to me.
I’m your Guardian Angel. Quite a job as you
Can tell. You’ve broken laws and hearts. Can’t
You see what you’ve done to me?
These bruises…are from shielding you, even
When I’m ill.
The drugs you’ve used so recklessly, I’ve
Often paid the bill.
My wings, my beautiful wings, ripped and torn.
Tis a noble badge I wear.
How many times I’ve protected you? Though you
Were often completely unaware.
With all your pain, anger and all the things
You’ve destroyed. You’ve made me wish more
Than once, that I wasn’t employed.
If only you could do good on your own.
It would certainly end this pain and suffering
That comes with being your chaperone…
When I woke I thought of this Angel and
How much she seemed to care. But when i
Looked around my cell, my heart sunk into
And I thought to myself, why should I
Even try? From out of nowhere I heard an Angel
