CAN THEY DO THIS? LAWDOG ANYONE

Nikki, how awful you and your husband are going through this ordeal. I'm not a lawyer, but the first thing that comes to my mind is, have you tried getting in contact with your husband's lawyer and talk to him about all of this? If you can't contact him, I'd get a different lawyer to help out with the case. It doesn't hurt to get a 2nd opinion about the case. I don't blame you for venting this terrible ordeal.

we are trying to get a new lawyer,thats why he wanted to go to court back in April, to tell the judge of the conflicts of interest we have with the lawyer, but they said he refused to go, which like I said is a lie,
My husbands lawyer wont do anything except
threaten him, with the DP if he goes to trial, yes ive tried to talk to the lawyer but when he knew i wasnt going to be rail roaded, like the rest of my husbands family, he stopped talking to me now all i hear when i call is him telling them to say he isnt in the office, he doesnt answer emails either, except to ask me how i would beg for my husbands life to be spared,we wont give in!!
we do have a fight, we may be in a losing battle at the moment, because its not being played fairly, because they believe in an eye for an eye and it dont matter whos dam
eye, they are determined to execute my husband, for something he was walking away from, i know alot of people have heard this all before, but he tried to protect the deceased guy from THE CONFESSED KILLER, the Judge knew he did not do it,but still sentenced him to death giving the killer life, the jury consisted of friends of the judge, and friends of the deceased family,
thank you for you reply anyway i know i wont get one from anyone who is in the know to tell me if this change in charges is legal,as everyone in the legal trade are to scared to stand out and not follow crooked ways, especially if you havent got money to pay them to do so,

My God. I am so sorry to hear what you are both going through.
Have you tried contacting any civil rights activists, prisoners rights groups, Law Watchdog groups etc. who might be able to offer you some help, or point you in the direction of someone who can.

Hi yep ive been every where!! when he was on death row, no one could help as it was thought to be a lost cause, now no one will help because he is off death row, all these groups "most of these groups wont/cant help"
because he has a lawyer court appointed, and we cant get rid of him because they wont let my husband go to court to do so, and no ones got the ? to stand up and say there is some thing wrong here, thanks for your concern feline, take care nikki

you might want to try a goup called the innocent project.. they help with DNA to prove innocent. They were on montel once awhile back

Maybe you should contact your local newspaper to see if they will do a story on it. Possibly a local TV news station would think it was news worthy. Good luck....

I am truly sorry you've been through so much. May I ask which state you're in? I do know of an attorney who's an advocate for the condemned here in my city. His main mission with his career is to help the condemned from death row. I still have the newspaper article on this guy just in case I needed it for future reference. thanks i went straight off and had a look thought i was on to a good thing, then had to find the state my husband is in, the lawyer that i would have to contact is in fact the lawyer my husband already has, i couldnt believe it,

i am trying that AGAIN,"I answered a post here earlier" i had gone to the papers before, im just hoping they dont try to turn it into a dirty story like they did before. im actually in the UK, "Im one of those women":0) i think thats why i dont get much help, people think im sexually frustrated or something or most think i was looking for a free ride in to america, but i am currently writing a letter that im going to send out to every news paper in the usa, now that he is being charged with 1st degree we havent got anything to lose now, we might as well just go for it, i know in my heart i WILL bring him home one day, and to be honest i think the more mistakes they make the quicker that will happen, he isnt scared of being sent back to DR as he has alot of friends there they are good men it was his home for 5 years, so the fear isnt there anymore, it will just give us time to get up and start again, anyway thanks for all you suggestions i will be emailing you tuppalady thanks and take care nikki

Obviously, you're getting plenty of empathy from others, so I won't interject any.

I'm more of a facts & circumstances type person. Unfortunately, I am only hearing ONE side to this many-faceted situation, so it wouldn't be prudent for me to offer any insight. I would be forging ahead blindly without all the factual details.

I ve got plenty to say about the so called "justice system" in the states but i will reserve that for our ears only...we gotta link up girl, i think we both need a stiff drink dont you? I have had some legal matters to deal with and that just doesnt sound right to me. My friend is here and said to go and seek legal help with another lawyer and try and go for a mistrial as the jury has to be impartial.Who is to say the jury new the family of the person who was killed you just never know theses days.
