That's right shizzel, so it would be almost impossible to 100% verify. But no, i haven't heard anyone getting caught on falsifying information. I just thank goodness, there is no height and weight question!! hmmm, think anyone would 'fib' on that one?? hehe

friend of family or childhood friend, they have the inmate's info. to match your answers. As far as calling anyone, they don't know who is on the other end to confirm
info.

For location, they'll ask a general question.
You can pretty much guess at that one by saying its been so long.

I still come back to that one question. Does
anyone ever get caught on that lie? Especially when you see it on the form for falsifying info. the charge & possible sentence.

i got e mail sayin my ebonics wasnt appreciated , and i was using them to , say , this is how u do what u need to do , since the e mail says my ebonics offends u all , i apologize , but i wont be chastizin myself , to get what needs to be told across !!

hmmmm, not sure what that comment meant..."prove it" On the ohio visiting aps, as well as others, it says 'how long have you known inmate'..that's when the inmate informs you, one must put down a date PRIOR to being incarcerated. If 'proof' was needed then, that's when inmate would contact a family member, tell them he has a new friend/visitor and if the prison calls....then they verify, 'yes, she's a childhood friend'..hmmmm, think we all know, prisons ain't gonna go to all that trouble unless there is a sure sign of suspicion!! lol

I just caught the fact that you have to PROVE you knew the person beforehand. WTF?? How does a person go about doing that? I mean, sure I have some form of "proof" for a few people, high school yearbooks and the such, but there are a LOT of people I have known over the years and I have no proof of that.....

That was one of the FIRST things mentioned when I filled out my visitors ap. We didn't wanna take a chance of the application not being approved. Hey, i didn't question it, i just did it!! lol

shizzel...on my application, there was no amount of time set before--Just had to be BEFORE they were incarcerated. That's why is best just to say a family/childhood friend.

mizzboo, I've discussed this issue with several people. The common denominator in every discussion is that the ones who didn't know the inmate before incarceration were told by the inmate what answer to give so that you can get in. Problem is once you sign that form with false information, you are liable for fine of up to I believe $250,000 & possible imprisonment up to 5yrs.

Yes, Ky and IN, for 2, say must know before incarceration -- always safe bet to put childhood friend. Can complain about it but can't change the 'policy' so may as well say it, 'less you want to get denied visitation. lol Kristie...no doubt you have a t-shirt like dat!! our crzygirl indeed! *grins*

are there any other states that require u know an inmate b4 incarceration ?? ohio kills me with that , like once he is condemned , he gets no new friends ?? isnt that a immendment right ?? freedom speach to people u didnt know b4 a crime , irreguardless of innocence or guilt ??

hi welcome to odoc. dont meet anyone new on the outside if u dont have proof (( and they read mail )) u knew them before trial date we can , and will deny u ???

thats crazy , unjust , and no where in any type of rehabilitation plan (( if applicable )) many never had support to begin with , ie thats why they end up in gangs ect , so basically they sayin u get no new friends , just keep ya ** crime ** friends , so we can prove all u all are bad and wont get no better ??

What prison in Ohio were you trying to visit Mizz??? I have been approved to go and visit my pal and had my first visit with him and things were wonderful. In the line where it said how long have you known your pal i told them i went to school with him back in the day!! Ohio has crazy laws but not as crazy as some places i've heard about...

i have recently been denied a visit in ohio , (( lol )) im a good girl , seems ohio rules state u MUST HAVE KNOWN SAID INMATE BEFORE INCARCERATION , AND BE ABLE TO PROVE IT !!!!!
is that rehabilitation ?? the ones in ya past can come , the ones helpin u in the future cant ???

I don't think my Ohio vacation will be boring; we've got restaurants to try, lots of window shopping to do, lots of walking in the wide open spaces to do, and we may wind up talking over coffee until the wee small hours of the night about his future plans; he put his time to good use, and might have novels worth publishing.

my brother is in ohio so i flew out there to visit him for a few days, i was soooo bored at night haha.

I may be visiting Ohio this fall, if things go right for my inmate penpal. We're both waiting for the verdict of his next parole board hearing in July. If he gets released, I'll allow him several months to get himself established, and then go to visit him if he's still as anxious to meet me as I am him.

anybody who visited Ohio seemed like that they got in trouble so they would come on vacation but would leave on probation...sorry got it confused...like me

lol.... well I'm not sure what you mean there Poz but an ex pp of mine got out on parole last August in Ohio and as far as I know he is still doing well.
