Hi, wouldn't it be nice if we would have a list of organisations who provide books, for every state? There are those who do that with donated books, for free, every couple of months, or for a little fee, and you just have to chose the category the incarcerated person would like.
So if anybody could help, that would be great!

Well, I hope they at least have a library where your pp is. It sounds like an expensive system where the inmates have to order their own books. First, they have to get the money for buying books (which means an extra charge for people adding money to their account) and then they have to buy them (which costs extra for package and sending). It makes me sick how everyone is making money at the expense of prisoners and their LO.

My pp is in jail now and there is no library there. He can only receive books from Amazon, no used books, and no other vendors. So I hope this organization will reach out to him (or the jail) and I hope my pp is allowed books from them. Especially since he is looking at a lengthy retrial and could be stuck there for months and months - without books and music.

Hey Carmen
You're welcome. I hope you're getting through!

Sadly my pp can only get books from 2 approved vendors. At least it's possible again. There was a ban last year on sending books in altogether. No third parties allowed. The inmates had to order from the inside! But I kept looking and reading on the subject. lol

Thank you, I had never checked that part of the forum because I thought it was all about donating books. I've written to one organization and hopefully, they can get my pp some books.

There are organisations, as well as Prisons. You can search by State. Also Google many hits ;o)

HI Felhuds,

That sounds like a great idea! Do you have a suggestion on how to find these organizations?
