Hello friends,

I have a dilemma. I'm from the U.K. Three weeks ago I wrote an introductory letter via this site to my prespective San Quentin DR pen pal. I've been waiting patiently only for my PO Box provider to inform me that they may have lost my post. Obviously I don't know if his reply (if he did reply) was part of what was lost. Should I wait longer to see if a letter turns up? Should I write to him again to let him know what happened? Or should I just leave it?

Thank you for your thoughts!

SQ has a NOTOURIOUSLY slow mailroom. Give it 6 weeks, normally. Better 8 at the moment.

Good luck!

Thank you! I feel so much better!

Hi tgtg - at least they told you somethings might be missing, usually it just disappears and you never know what's happened. As for writing again, are you overseas? I assume you are, but maybe hold off on writing another message straight away. Mail is slow around holidays, slow with Covid, slow at the best of times really haha. But generally 3 weeks is a short turn around for your letter to have arrived, been processed & read by the mailroom, passed on, read, written reply to and sent back - most of the mail coming from my pen pals is taking 4-6 weeks to arrive to me in New Zealand. If you're not overseas, wouldn't hurt to wait another week or two just in case.
