There are trans people on death row. https://dailycaller.com/2021/04/08/california-transgender-prison-inmate…
Trans people in prison suffer a lot, many trans girls are in men's prisons and have to be humiliated and despised by other inmates. There are also trans boys in prisons for women.

Hm... there are free ones, (not this one here, though), but I'm not sure as to how effective they are.

What would be  affordable to you?

My brother has been asking me for months to find him a prison pen pal how do I register him on a site for prison pen pals that is affordable. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hi Taylor,

I think finding a good match to write with isn't an easy task for many ppl, inmate and outmate. There is an LGBTQA+ guy on the DR in Nevada, but I can't tell you what letter of it applies to him, as I don't write to him.

Another thing is that the ppl on DR generally get MORE mail than others, simply because of their sentence and of ppl opposing to the DP, not so much for who they are as a person.

If I were you, I'd look from a broader perspective. There is (to just give you one example) a black trans woman in ad seg in TX and I don't know if she gets a lot of mail, but to be black, trans, TX and an offender is quite a mix probably not many ppl can or will relate to. Not saying you can (or have to), but if you step away from "It has to be someone on DR" and go to "Who might appreciate me for the me of me" your chances to find a pp with whom the connection is enriching for both might be higher. Oh ad you might try "black and pink", too, which is a site that also offers prison penpals for LGBTAQ+ ppl.

Hi, and welcome, T4YL0R,

I'd love to be able to answer your question with some authority, but I really can't...I think anytime you meet a new person and have to disclose some personal information, there's a risk of a bad reaction, but I wouldn't think this is more likely to happen with a prison pen pal than with anyone else.  If you have a strategy for how, when, and whether to disclose your trans status to new acquaintances, I'd just follow the same procedure here.  You can also guage from the profile bios of the inmates, how much of a sticking point it might be for any one of them:  I always try to write to people whose bios indicate they're looking for intellectual and social connection of the mind,  regardless of age, gender, orientation, race, religion, etc., as opposed to those with a more limited set of criteria. I hope that's somewhat helpful...though it probably isn't.  Maybe someone else can add more.  Happy searching through the profiles, though, and good luck finding a great penpal!
