THE INMATE CAN SEND YOU A LIST OF ALL THERE DO'S AND DON'TS. I WAS A CLERK FOR HALF OF A FCI, HOWEVER, IN SOME CAMPS AND PRIVATE RUN PRISONS THEY DO THEIR OWN THING. THE CAMP IS DIFF. FROM A FCI OR FDC, OR USP, YOU SEE IT DEPENDS OR WHERE HE OR HER IS AT. WE LIKE TOOSAY THAT THE DIFF. IS THE STATE SAYS 5YRS AND THEY CAN PROVE IT, THEN THE FEDS SAY 20 TO LIFE, WE DON'T HAVE TOO PROVE IT, JUST TRY TO RISK IT. THEN YOU DEAL FOR 7-8 YEARS AND JUSTIFY IT BY THE SENT, GUIDELINES. SOUND SCARY IT IS AND WORST THAN FREDDY VS. JASON.

The difference between state and feds, in order to be sentenced in feds you would have to have committed a crime in the feds jurisdiction. (i.e. robberying a bank can be one, shooting someone in a postal office)
State of course, is breaking the laws in the state. Maybe LawDog can explain this a little better.
Feds get 300 mins of phone time each month, they can either call you collect or buy their phone mins, which is cheaper then them calling you collect. you cant send them stamps, they must buy them.
you use to could send them 3 paper books at a time in, that is no longer allowed.
you will know the diffrnce in state or a fed inmate. fed inmate id number is like the following,
0000-ooo they have 4 numbers divided with a slash folllowing three more numbers.
i hope this helps

Hi...the feds will not allow stamps sent in. inmates can purchase them through the commissary. If the inmate needs postage, send a money order (U.S. Postal Service money orders) for a couple of bucks..Palomo & I will be happy to answer anything else we can...

I decided to see what my friend said, but I wanted to know if the rules in Federal Prisons were more strict on what you could send inmates. I wanted to send him some stamps for one thing but I'm thinking he can't recieve just regular postal stamps. I guess it was a stupid question, I was just curious.

I always thought that Federal prison was for those who committed crimes that broke laws that came under federal jurisdiction such as bank robbery, kidnapping, counter fitting etc. State prison, I believe, is for crimes that break just state laws. Maybe Law Dog can clarify?
