Hahaha yeah I probably wouldn't like it so much if he wasn't shirtless for most of the movie :)
I love the fight in the parking lot between the two rival bands. They're like..."Oh yeah? Well...I'm gonna beat you up!" Priceless. Also how they all fight with each other and have a tantrum and go home and take their toys with them...god I love it. Then he has to go back with his tail between his legs and be all soulful boy...it's fantastic for sure! I could watch it many times.

I think my friend told me her husband slept with a light on that night, lol. You wanna talk about a ringing endorsement?
It's very odd because I've watched a lot of horror movies in my life, not toward the slasher end but the more thriller or classic or the "big 10" types (Rosemary's Baby, Shining, Psycho, all the classics) that all others are themes on, the well known ones, and the 28 Days Later types. So it's a little hard to "impress" me with one of these films. I recently turned to the Asian horror directors for new and inventive ideas such as Ringu (the original Ring)...there's a lot of amazing stuff coming out of Japan and Korea at the moment.
Insidious is an odd duck. There's moments where it wobbles for sure and you wish it wouldn't because othewise it would be PERFECT. For me, as a writer, the thing I dug about it so much was that the scary thing was staring right at you, so to say, it didn't rely on cheap overused tricks, etc. There are some great moments because of that. Even the use of music and the film's title was cool.
Okay, I saw a few steals, can't help but see them and blurting out "that's stolen from The Shining" or "that's from Night of the Living Dead"...I know, I know... I shouldn't, but, I can't help it, I watch like a hawk for those things. -I'm ranting, but- cool to see something like Insidious. May I ask if you have seen the 28 Days Later franchise yet? Hands down, the BEST of it's genre. Truly will stay in your blood (so to say!) and rock your world! OMG if you haven't seen that yet... run don't walk to rent them!

The book is even worse! The scene where she loses the baby and the dog is the only thing that can comfort her... I can barely get through it, I literally cry TOO MUCH and have to stop reading it.
Insidious.
Wow, what weirdness! 3/4 of the way through it started to get a little wobbly but for the most part it was really great, really weird. Every horror movie is like a take on something that's already been done but I thought they did some very interesting things in this movie. One of the things I noticed was that usually the formula is show you something scary but only for 1 second, or in the shadows. This was very up front with being able to see the weird things which made it all the weirder! Not a slasher or gore or any of that but just a really odd story. I had a good time watching that! (* I'm kind of glad I didn't see it on the big screen, though, because it would have scared me too much...)
I just watched an awesome documentary: Up Syndrome.
Description: "Using donated digital tapes and a camera purchased with money earned from an eBay sale, indie filmmaker Duane Graves's critically acclaimed documentary chronicles a year in the life of his childhood friend, Rene Moreno, who has Down Syndrome. After graduating from a high school for special students, Moreno sets out to make his way in the adult world, optimistically battling the prejudices his condition engenders."
I watched it on netflix, and have no idea where else it is available.
I know I said I was done but I just had to post this.
