.Since me and my boyfriend started dating last year, he's in prison in Ohio, and I live in Michigan,  I've read so many books, articles, webpages that talk about being with an inmate, and all the items we have to sacrifice, or must be willing to accept in order for the relationship to thrive. That he won't be able to show up with flowers at your job, you can't call him in the middle of the night, just cause you are thinking of him. You need to help pay for him to contact you, via phone, video, and even mail. Although I know those articles are meant to show the full spectrum of emotions in a relationship with an inmate, but they sometimes leave me more defeated then supported.

Today is my 47th birthday and the first celebrated since I entered the relationship with my boyfriend. Birthdays for me are generally blah.. ever since my parents passed away almost 23 years ago. It's generally another day that just passes. But a few days ago, my boyfriend told me he was planning something extra special for me. He wouldn't tell me what it is.. only that i am not going to believe it, he was going to reveal it on our video visit today. My mind raced with what on earth he was planning, another card he made, singing me happy birthday.. hell a sock puppet show.. He never gave me a clue.. but I eagerly awaited today at 2:45 for that video visit to start. The standard, you look good.. I love you's out of the way, he proceeded to sing me Happy Birthday. He was smiling the whole time, and although off key, it was such a nice surprise.. Then he reached to the floor and pulled up the most beautiful cake he had made for me.. Complete with two faux 47 candles including flames.. and told me to make a wish.. I was overwhelmed.. but did make a wish and blow them out.. Our visit proceeded as normal..

I write this just to let all those ladies and gents out their wondering if they should enter a relationship with an inmate. It is hard.. I won't lie.. and it costs. money, time, efffort, even loneliness.. But the rewards can be just as great. When someone goes through the effort to take apart, cookies.. turn them into cake, icing.. bake a cake in the microwave, cut out candles, plan to surprise you so.. it means so much more then any store brought gift any free person gave to me today.. It fills me with a kind of joy, that just sails me into the clouds..

So when you are dating and inmate, and you wanna know if he/she is truly loving you. Gauge them by the efforts they are making to make you happy.. by the love and care they put into bringing a smile to your face.. By him/her not allowing the chains of their surrounds to keep them from demonstrating their love for you..I for one am very happy and truly blessed I found one willing to make so many strides to keep me feeling loved..

Happy Birthday, honey. It's so sweat from his side. Hope you will meet him soon. By the way, if you have problems with relationship then I think you can try online dating. And Tinder is one of the best options for you. Just read this tinder review to learn more about the platform and why you need to use it.

Happy Birthday. I won't lie I was greedy when it came to presents. The bigger, the better, the more expensive etc. When I started dating my now husband I realized how I didn't need those things, and in fact, didn't really want them. It's the attention they give to us and the million little things they do to express their love.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. @Nona, I agree that genuine guys are in prison, incapable of making grand gestures for whatever the reason. That doesn't mean they don't love or care for you. Agreed! But with that being said, when they do.. push through the circumstances of their incarceration and limitations and make those type of efforts.. it feels so damn good to be the recipient. Yes, I'm MWI..
