So I was wondering - numerous US Federal Prisons have a main male facility, then perhaps an adjacent satellite prison camp for women etc, often with a lower security rating.
It has been a few more weeks than usual that I had heard from one of my penpals (female, at FCI Hazelton). Then on the news today, it was said Whitey Bulger (the infamous mob rat portrayed by Johnny Depp in 'Black Mass') had been brutally murdered within just hours of arriving at USP Hazelton - apparently the 3rd murder at the facility in a 40 day span.
So, could these happenings influence life in the adjacent prison camp and female component of the facility? I would assume the main male wing would go into lockdown after such an incident? Does anyone here know more about the procedures and what happens in such a case? I find it hard to believe the facility wouldn't have already been in some kind of lockdown prior to this murder given recent events there.
Could this type of thing in a male part of the facility affect incoming/outgoing mail to the whole facility and all its areas?

The short answer is that some of these facilities are on shared grounds so yes, things like this can happen. I can imagine the sound of the brown stuff hitting the metal thing right now. There will be management inside of the facility running around wondering how someone allowed Whitey to be exposed to this situation in the first place. From my own experience with my aunt working inside of prisons… He should have been inside of the SHU under pretty much 24/7 observation like his girlfriend... so how all of this happened... as they say "no entiendo" (I do not understand.)
I suspect we will never know exactly what happened, but what can we say? Other than the usual from their perspective… There would have been a lot of people out there yesterday that said "he goy what's coming to him." I don't believe in mob justice... so... at this point it should be made clear I don't support this, but I can understand why it happened, you just have to look at the types of things Whitey did... and then he became a "snitch..." so... I mean, it was probably going to happen eventually.
