Trying to find an imate on JPay to send him a message. But the system cannot find him. He has been in prison for the past 30 years in Maryland. Why this can be the case?
Not every prison/state uses jpay. It looks like only 1 county jail in Maryland uses jpay, so that's the reason why you can't find him.

Oh - it now makes sense!
Does it mean that the ony way to write him is, say, though this service and wait, wait, wait until he responds back, which can take several months?

Every inamte listed on this site will have their address posted at the bottom. If his facility doesn't offer jPay services (which it sounds like it doesn't) then you can send him an "email" through this site for your first correspondance only. It's not an actual email but the WAP staff print off your message and forward it to the inmate. They only do this twice a month (I think the 7th and 23rd but the actual dates are listed on here somewhere). Your other option is to send the inamte mail directly using the address provided at the bottom of their profile. And yep, apparently the waits can be very long for both methods!
You can also google "his facility name + prison pro" and click the link on that site for his facility. It's a really good resource with detailed instructions about sending mail to basically any US prison.
Good luck!

You can send him an email through WAP (I think they send emails twice a month) and/or you can send him a handwritten letter. You can ask him if there's another way of contacting him. Some prisons use Corrlinks (something similar to jpay), but it could very well be that 'snailmail' is the only way to contact an inmate in Maryland.
