1. How do I use this site?
You must sign-up by agreeing to the terms and conditions of usage and creating an account. If you’re communicating with an inmate at a subscribing state or county facility, you will also need to fund your account using a Mastercard or VISA credit card.

If you’re communicating with a federal inmate you will need to add inmates with the identification code sent to you by email.

With your account, you’ll be able to add inmates with whom you wish to communicate. You will need to know the inmate number to add them to your address book.

Once the inmate is added, you can compose and send a new message.

2. Is there a charge for using this site?
Charges for using this site are based upon agreements with Correctional agencies. This site does not charge for sending or receiving messages from inmates at Federal Bureau of Prisons facilities with TRULINCS. Sending messages to Iowa inmates costs $0.25 per message.

3. When are messages delivered?
Messages are generally delivered by the institution staff at a time of their choosing.

4. Can my message be held up for delivery?
The institution staff have the final authority for delivery of any and all messages and may review it, hold it or reject it just like any other package or letter entering the institution.

5. If my message is rejected, do you refund the fee?
Just like any other letter mailed to the inmates at an institution, the fee to send a letter is the cost of transporting the message to the facility. If the institution rejects a letter, no fee will be refunded.

6. My loved one is no longer at the facility. Will you refund my balance?
Yes. If all inmates in your address book have been released from our subscribing institutions, you may request a cancellation of your account and a refund of your remaining balance. We will issue the refund to your credit card within 48 hours.

7. I can’t figure out this site. Can I call you for help?
Sorry, we keep the fees for users of this site low by providing online support only. The process to use this site is very simple – please see Question #1 – How do I use this site.

8. When will I be able to send messages to inmates at xyz institution?
We are working on adding facilities for friends and families to communicate with incarcerated loved ones but are not able to predict when a facility may be added. If your loved one is at a subscribing facility, you’ll be able to add them to your address book with the inmate number. If they are at a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility, please visit InmateMessage.com for instructions.

9. Are my messages monitored?
The institution housing an inmate determines its need for monitoring messages, letters and other communication. If desired, the institution may monitor any or all messages for any or all inmates. CorrLinks staff does not monitor your messages but may need to assist the institution in such monitoring from time to time.

10. I have forgotten my login and/or password. Can you reset it?
We have provided a self-reset tool for your user name and password that utilizes the questions and answers you provided at sign-up. Our staff does not reset user passwords, nor can provide a previously used username or password.

11. How will the charge appear on my credit card statement?
Credit card charges made on the CorrLinks web site will appear on your credit card statement as ADVANCED TECHONOLOGIES.

12. How can I contact CorrLinks?
You can contact CorrLinks from the Feedback

13. Why do I see a $1.01 charge on my credit card statement?
Depending on your credit card provider, you may see a temporary $1.01 authorization charge on your statement. This authorization is processed by Western Union, our credit card processor, to validate the account and is automatically removed within 3-4 business days.

14. I signed up for your service but never received my verification link, what happened?
Please check your spam folder to make sure that your email provider did not mark it as spam. Be sure to add web [at] corrlinks.comrel="nofollow" to your address book so that messages from CorrLinks don’t get flagged. If you still cannot find your link, click here to have it sent again.

well i didnt have to put a credtit card number in or nothing, it was cool, once i got the eamil , from them i was in, but it was pending about 24 hours,,,and its funy cuase he emails and says you shoudl get a letter in a day or two, lettr? if this is free, lol then lets eamil..LOL

i dunno if they can print them and get a copy? or how it does, i hope hes not paying to use it either.

gemwizard88
gemwizard88

In the end now we have sent two eamils each, and he says he might not respond cuase its costs mintues i dunno waht charge
but when i read the info on the stie, it says fed prisons dont charge unless iowa andhes not in iowa and in relaity iowa only charges a quarter whcih is actually cheaper then a stamp currently.

i am beiging to think hes scamming me...or just white lies.
the first eamil he sent to me and some other gal, i could see her eamil addy in ther subject there with mine, wonder if that was chepaer for him?i dunno anything. but he wrote me on paper a long letter saying he hopes i am not upset and etc etc, shes some 18 year old and hes not intrested in her and etc etc...hum. this is the same guy i had to directly say to him point blank i am not looking for a relainthsip other then a freindship, Twice..cuase he was asking directly twice. i dunno this whole thing seems a bit fishy shall we say.
i havent had him a long time. but i dunno, something doesnt jive. and what do you do when something doesnt jive.....

My PP in Pennsylvania has Corrlinks and it's great. It doesn't cost me anything but it does cost him 5 cents a minute to be on the site with a 15 minute maximum. I get an e-mail from him daily just saying hi or telling me what he did that day. We still write long letters by mail since he enjoys getting real mail. I have it set-up where it e-mails my yahoo account when I have a new message from him which is very convenient.

I've written to a Federal inmate who has access to corrlinks, hope we can use it !

I'm using Jpay with my other pp - and as Gem says, you have to go on the site and log in with a wordpass, then you can read the letter and save it on computer as well as the mails you sent) which is nice, because this way I can keep a track of our electronic correspondence !

And I've done the same thing as Patty, set it up so that whenever my pp writes me, I get an e-mail on my yahoo address on my Blackberry ! I'm in France and I always get that e-mail first thing in the morning when I wake up (the notification arrives around 4 am) which of course puts a great smile on my face :p

But I love snail mail and want to keep doing both !

I am currently writing a prisoner on corrlinks.com. It is a wonderful site. It do not cost me anything, but it do cost the inmate. I believe that they charge by the minute. If the inmate can type their cost is low. There are times when I can write to my pen pal (when he has not money) and he can read it without any cost. I love corrlinks, mainly because it is quicker. It takes the prison approx. two hours to relay the messages between us.

I got a letter recently from my pp saying he was worried and why was I not responding! I responded back staright away and now I find that he is in ad seg so I guess that will be the end of the email exchange!

Hello All,

A lot of people are coming to WriteAPrisoner.com looking for corrlinks.com (CorrLinks). While we're happy to be getting so many new visitors, if you're looking for CorrLinks, you will need to visit their actual website: http://www.corrlinks. CorrLinks is the website where you are able to email federal inmates, and those same federal inmates are able to email you back. CorrLinks has a contract with the government to do this. WriteAPrisoner.com cannot help facilitate actual emails to prisoners like CorrLinks does. We print and send email forwards from new pen-pals to inmates. This is quite different. Unlike CorrLinks, our email forwards still go through the prison mailroom.

Because of the empirical evidence available on inmates maintaining contact with the outside world and reducing their chances of returning to prison, it seems as though many states and counties are adopting this same system although not exclusively through CorrLinks.com. It is probably only a matter of time before most inmates in America have some access to email, however it will probably always be under very strict guidelines. We will provide a section with more information on these services as more information becomes available.

Be well,
Adam Lovell

As soon as my pp received my letter, he emailed me through corrlinks and told me to set up there. I did, and sent out a note and a pic...he answered a few hours later. Short messages, he said he would send a much longer snail mail...but WOW! So glad he can at least send short messages anytime, and the turnaround time on messages is phenominal compared to snail mail!

Not sure if he pays; it is possible, because the messages are short and he says he'll keep long corrispondance to snail mail.

Too bad it only works for federal facilities, it would be fabulous if they could set this up for all of them!

I have had 3 of my pp's propose this. So far I have had a few minor emails with the first and am waiting for identification code from the other two.

I have also offered my opinion of this in my response letters, along these lines.

[I]While I am not opposed to e-mail, and feel it does have its uses. Such as, notifying the other person that the letter is being held or returned, something happened (like a lockdown) and the mail is currently very sslllllllllllllllllllllooww A short happy (whatever holiday), or some important, time critical, event. Even a quick “hi, I miss you”. To be honest, it is not my preferred method of corresponding.

This ability to form my words and thoughts no matter how long I find is one of my biggest attractions to letter writing. Believe me, you do not gain the same interaction nor satisfaction within some e-mail, (never mind the joy of finding that letter in your mailbox :coolgleamA: ) where being sparse and precise are the norm and one word/one line responses are all too commonplace. Whilst every new advancement in communication seems to make it worse!

Writing letters is probably one of the few things where one can slow down, put one’s thoughts, ideas, or even ravings  in order. Without all those distractions.

But thats just me ;)

Yes they do pay... its so many cents per minute and they only get 15 min of email time... to read and send.. kind of like the phones.. that is why they want you to send shorter msgs thru email.. longer thru snail mail
