I never even took noticed where my PP was when I sent my first email. Didn't make a difference where he was, I just liked his profile.

I used the email facility as an initial way of contacting potential PP's. I sent out four emails & only received one reply. I wrote to another three & received two replies. Although the only one I'm in touch with is the one I emailed.

It is wise to look at where potential PP's are if you intend on having a few.

Although where they are is not an issue to me.

emailing can be personal, depends on what you write. I use emails just to let him I'm ok, or sad or if I need some info urgently. we use letters for our long talks, making plans, getting to know each other. but i always get nervous when I don't get a message from him once in a day- it always means something must have happened and it's been true so far. with emails i can know instantly what's happening. it's quite normal these days that people want info right here right now.

I look as well, since I'd prefer not to have two pen pals in the same facility. I've written letters to three inmates so far, all of whom are in different states. There were actually a few I wanted to write that I passed on because they are in the same facility as one of the three I sent to. If I don't get a response in a month or so, I'll write to another person there.

I read in one of the threads here before I registered that a lot of folks think that it's not a good idea to have more than one pen pal at any given facility, or even more than one per state in case they get transferred. I'm inclined to agree... People can be a jealous lot, whether they have a reason to be or not.

I never looked initially but in the beginning I started to write to two brother in the same facility both serving LWOP, And when I found my current PP who is now my fiance, I did not look to were he was at I liked his profile and the candour in his early letters, but I do think it is a mistake to write to two people in the same place however it was ok with the brothers because they were very close and I always wrote them the same amount of pages and always sent them the same amount of money.

When I came to this site I was just looking for a penpal. Then I started looking and found 3 profiles that I liked so I emailed 2 of them and hand wrote one. and I heard back from all 3 women. Sometimes I find it hard to write all of them but I find time for them since it was me that wrote to them. one is also doing life and the others just has alot of time. and they all are in different states.
