Thats right, does depend on the time you send it, and what time the mail room sends the mail out. I normally work on one day, but l have had the odd letter take two days.

My pp in Kansas gets it in the evening - he told me - he gets his mail every day even during week-ends (I wrote him on Saturday and got a reply on Sunday night). He said it's a room and he can go in there any time he wants, so sometimes he writes me the first part of his mail in the morning, than come back later to finish it.
I'm in France and I usually write him around 10 pm - that should be around 3 pm in KS and he gets it the same day. We've e-mailed back and forth every day last week because he was on "Thanksgiving break" but now he's back to work :p

If I send mail before midday my time, my pp (in Ramsey Unit) gets it that day (his time). It's great if I want to get urgent information to him for some reason. I've been using JPAY email for a few months now, and it's normally always the same day.

Can all inmates receive messages like this? It sounds a good way to get a quick message to them.

As with everything else it depends on the facility. Check on the DOC web site or JPay website or ask your pen pal what is available where they are....

Yes - it will also work in Federal prison because I checked the other day my pp's DOC website and they talked about the video visiting coming soon - it will be restricted to half an hour and will cost $12 - amazing ! I wonder if it will work with friends from overseas ...
