Hey Guys,

I was wondering why does WAP still post ads from Florida if it is now illegal/banned? I'm very glad if they are simply determined to give the inmates the gift of penpals, but can someone, especially the inmates, get in some real trouble if they are found out? Is the FL government going to soon be tracking down these ads on sites like WAP?

Oops! I didn't realize MikeinPA already started a thread about this! I guess we were thinking about the same type of thing...I'm going to go read that long thread now :)

shin - I have noticed that some Florida inmates have removed their ads from several sites. Also, some of the other penpal sites have dropped Florida entirely.

I noticed that on one other site, but WAP still has new FL ads coming in, some posted today...

I have addressed this with the Webmasters, out of concern that Florida inmates may face sanctions if it is discovered they still have ads on the website.

I expect to hear some official word on this soon, and I'll pass it along.

I was wondering about that too, shin guard. Some sites have ads, some have removed them.
The web master of one site with no Fla ads anymore, said something along the lines that she felt somewhat "pressured" to take down the ads.

WriteAPrisoner.com is fully involved in political (and possibly legal) action in this matter (see the home page).

I'm sure that as soon as there is something to report, we will hear from them. I have sent the Webmasters an email asking for some updated information.
