hi everyone, i'm new here :)
i never before thought of writing an inmate but a link from another forum lead me here and after reading up about the subject i think it's a great idea.
i have a question..i was looking at the profiles and after looking through a bunch someone jumped out at me. i looked up articles about him online to maybe get a better idea of what kind of person he is, and what i found encouraged me to write. one thing i basically got a bit worried about is that it said he had previous "forgery" convictions. what exactly does this mean? i'm guessing it could be lots of things like forging checks etc., but could this involve identity theft?
this would worry me a bit..do you guys think i'm being paranoid?

You are not being paranoid. You are being cautious, which is good. Forgery could mean a few things but I wouldn't worry about that when he is writing you from prison. It's not like they have the internet access we do! LOL You might very well meet a good friend. I met my best friend through this site and my future husband. I couldn't be more grateful to this website and to the people that run it and share their stories. Enjoy getting to know your friend.
Looking up articles online about a potential friend can be misleading, so i would be mindful. Going into a friendship behind bars you need to be cautious as Camaro said, but you will not know who this person truly is unless you reach out a hand of friendship. Listen to your inner voice or gut instincts as some say because more times than not that is a good guide, best of luck writing. :)
