Hey Guys, I'm just wondering if qany of ya'all have seen this some what new program on A&ETV called, "Beyond Scared Straight?" Its an hour long program on that station where these teenagers have gotten in trouble with the police, in school, out of control for their parents, etc., and they go to these prisons to talk and visit with the inmates for the entire day. These inmates are really tough on these kids and they don't want these kids to follow in their footsteps and end up in prison.
I've been listening to it today while I'm doing things around here today. There was this one young lady who was there for being in a ton of trouble and when one of the inmates asked her what she wanted to do with her life, her reply was, "to be a C/O". If only they had something like this years ago and alot of these people wouldn't be in prison right now.

It's a great show.
The one that got to me (wish I could rember the exact name of the episode/facility it was in) was when the alarm went off and they all had to hit the pavement on the yard and the one inmate turned to a kid and said something like: "I've had to lay down in other people's spit for 22 years like this because I didn't want to listen when good people wanted to help me." Whew. If that doesn't scare you straight, nothing will!
Good show! Yep. If only more effort had been made to wake up young people. This is called progress . . we live and we learn. And, sometimes it is just baby steps.
I really like this show, I don't miss one... and if I do, I go on A&E website and watch it! We also can see how different food is in different prisons. I guess there are different "laws" or rules for every states on this matter.
