Ok so I have put my interest into action. I have an interview this week which if I pass will allow me to do volunteer work in Hong Kong prisons as well as to visit English speaking inmates who may like a visit or two. I have to have an interview with some head honcho and if I possess any skills thought desirable I am in...after attending quite a rigorous training session. Whilst quite excited I am very nervous as well as I have never been into a prison before......and one that does not speak English will be even more of a challenge I suspect....keep you all posted. Nee How!

Good Luck Scott !
I'm doing the same in France, actually not being a simple "visitor". I visit in jail the foreign inmates locked up in French prisons, to bring them legal aid (concerning their visas, etc...).
The head staff has changed so I'll have to see the "head honcho" again for an interview, LOL
Keep us posted !
best wishes for you both, if you find any gays who need mail please let me know by pm!
wow, that sounds really exciting!
hope it goes well for you :D
I've been trying to figure out how to be a prison "volunteer", but wasn't sure in what facet I would be of any help that they would ALLOW me.
One thing I'm really good at is writing resumes and cover letters. I just never had a clue about how to go about such a thing.
Good Luck Scott and great to have you back x
Thanks Fairy! Yes it has been a long time....
oooh how exciting for you both....
looking forward to hearing how you both go with the "head honcho"....
hope that guys doesn't speak English and doesn't know about the WAP ...
I'll have to say once again why I want to ...go to jail ! to visit inmates and help them as a legal council.... in France, actually all over Europe, hundreds of aliens are locked up and they hardly speak any French or when it comes to write an appeal, a visa application, etc. they're lost, so here were are helping them out, bringing their family, gathering info to help gain the refugee status, lots of paper work - I think you guys have NGO like that in the US - you can ask around YMIhere, it's very grateful and their stories are amazing and teach you a lot about life, and survival !
