I've been writing to him for close to 2-years.
He is in prison for 1st Degree murder and has served close to 16-years.
He told me he is getting out on 11-22-18.
He said he won't have to go to a half-house or be on parole once he gets out.
He plans to move in with his parents.
However, when I check the inmate search in his state, his name and picture come up. It says:
Next Parole Hearing: 11/22/2018
Maximum Parole Discharge Date: Not Available
Projected Release Date: Not Available
I'm confused as to why it says, "Next Parole Hearing: 11/22/2018" since that date is long gone.
The page footnote says:
This site is set-up for offenders that are under active supervision, in prison or on parole status only, with WVDOC. Those that have discharged or have moved from the custody of the WVDOC will NOT appear in the search. If you receive the following message, "No results found with specified criteria." this indicates the offender is no longer in WVDOC custody.
I assume he is either still in prison or is out on parole. Is there a way to tell which is which?

Kathy, to the best of my knowledge, from having two friends IRL who served time, parole hearing decisions are a longer process than just “up for parole and out” and an inmate might end up having to wait several months, this also might have been delayed with the government shutdown that happened recently. So he probably had his hearing, and is waiting for a final decision. If he’s still listed and already out, they might simply need to update their system. Sometimes there is a number you can call, asking for a correct address, and the people in the WVDOC may be able to assist you further if he has a forwarding address or is still at the same address in the prison.
@Dmendez Have you checked the inmate search on the Colorado DOC website? If he’s not there, maybe he got out? My pen pal is in Colorado and on the inmate search and all the info on there seem up to date!
My son is currently on prison sterling prison and all of his information on his web site is correct. The parole date is new and was not aware of it.
