Hi guys! :)

It sounds pretty impolite to ask and I don't feel good by doing it but I really need someone from the USA who sends money to my PP.
I live in Germany and it seems impossible for me to send it from here. All the details I'd more like to discuss via welthund [at] web.de (email)rel="nofollow" or PM (of course I will tip the helper!! :))

Is there a Western Union office close to where you live?

I have always found their staff very helpful when trying to send money to US prisoners.

> Yep, there are WU offices around here but the B.O.P. wants a special form (Quick Collect) that we don't have here in Germany... <_<

> It really seems to be simple but I don't have a credit card, and my debit card is also not working. We already live in the 21st century and still everything is so inconvenient *lol*

I send money to my babes mostly to help out toward the cost of phone calls as i am in the UK so it is very expensive for him. We both love our talk time so for me it is worth it a hundred times over.

Sometimes they need money to cover costs of sending letters and such...I dont ever send mine money because hes pretty old fashioned and doesnt want me to he believes the man should take care of the woman ect...In Texas they dont get paid for work either so they have zero money unless someone sends it to them.

How come? Isn't that the point of a forum. To ask questions? :)

Sometimes people are married, engaged, or long time couples and that's the way it is between them, just like it would be between any other involved couple.

Others sometimes make the mistake of being badgered into it or think that it's somehow part of the pp experience to say yes to that even when asked on letter two. (NOT.)

Others want to give a gift because maybe they have it to give and want their friend to have food, shoes, or other stuff, on them, no strings attached as a birthday or holiday or "just because" gift.

The ones I really don't understand are the ones I read about on other forums that say "I send him 200 a month and he still is asking for more"... unless I was married to that person and saw statements of where that money was going and why, I'd swiftly tell him or her to go find another ATM.

I have sent small amounts of money, on a regular basis, to defray the costs of international postage.

Some of my penpals have had no contact with family, so I will send a little on Birthdays and at Christmas, so they can get something extra from commissary.

One penpal I sent money to buy a radio.

That is very kind to send money for a radio :) also, I understand the international post fee so helping out there makes sense to me as well. I do also understand the small gifts as I would do that for anyone special in my life!

that's your choice. why do you feel the need to keep saying in every post that you knew your guy from the streets? in a blog comment you say you'd be afraid of writing people you didn't know on the outside cause the are likely to be psycho. while most members didn't know their pp's/friends/significant others from the streets, some do. we don't make that a defining thing here. we are ALL writers to incarcerated people on here.

Um don't know if I have anything to add here but I didn't know my pp never even heard of her before I just logged on to w.a.p and her ad was the first 1 I saw and just wrote her a letter I'm glad I did not look around for the " perfect " pp you can't judge a book and all that it is interesting that everyones opinion is different just like our pp,s are and always will be different, just saying no offence

Haven´t send my pp money yet.

I have sent B. a puzzle book and some stationary for Christmas. Both B. and R. are getting Cards for their Birthday and I intend to start to send them some picture postcards now and then.

I thought about sending them money to cover the postage but I want to make sure I know them well enough. B. and I are getting closer and I guess she will receive a small amount for her next birthday if not before. :)

Edit: Jpay works for both of them. At least my jpay-account says that I can send money to them. :)

May I ask why people send money to their PP's...?

I used to send $40/month to my favorite PP, who died of cancer, in prison. And why did I send it? Because, life in prison is very mean and meager. There were no hair brushes, no face or skin lotions, the soap had grit in it and the toothpaste tasted like soap. There wasn't even an aspirin for a headache, nor cold remedies. She had not tasted ice cream in six years. Quite often, she went to bed hungry, because the food was almost inedible or they were rushed through the chow hall so fast that she didn't have time to eat. That all changed after I started sending her a small stipend, and she thanked me many, many times. At one point, I offered to buy her a typewriter, but she said that she would rather have eye glasses from an outside vendor. The cost of the glasses was $120. So, I sent her the money, but she insisted on "paying me back" by holding off on the monthly stipend. Before that was over she admitted that it was a L-o-n-g three months. :-)

Why did I send it to her? Because, it made ME feel good. She became a very dear friend, and to this day, I rejoice that I was able to be there for her.

One final word. If you can't afford it, don't do it. That simple.
