Hello everybody: I know this question has been asked over and over again, but do any of you have tried international phone calls from Illinois with Consolidated? I have read some horror stories about the prices ... so before getting all excited, I am trying to get some info. Thanks!

Hi flanders. I have no experience with Consolidated. But have you try Skype? It works for me and PP in LA. Not sure how it works in Ohio.
No, they recently (like a month ago) stopped all of it. Or something like that. I remember because my pp in Illinois wanted to call me and Ashy was trying to have her guy call her (also in Illinois) and we were both sorting out a lot of stuff concerning it and then as it turned out right before we were trying to sort it all out they had stopped certain things regarding phone calls. It's possible that it has changed in the mean time. You'd have to call Springfield, IL, to find out. And I can't remember the exact specifics, my guy had asked and they gave him the info. I'd have to go through my letters and see what it was exactly that he said. All I know is that they wouldn't allow him to call internationally.
I'll look into it (my letters) when I get back, I'm about to head out.

QB is correct my boyfriend is in Illinois and Consolidated are no longer allowed to to register foreign addresses and/or skype numbers. I have called to verify this with consolidated my boyfriends facility and also the head office in Springfield. Basically you need a phone number registered to an address in america to allow illinois inmates to phone you unless you are on an american army base outside of america.
Thanks hun, that saves me going through my huge stack of letters (which I really wasn't looking forward to, but I was gonna do to get the info anyway). lol
that's so stupid. it's not like they're paying the freaking phone bill.
have y'all ever tried these people? Ear 2 Ear i recently got with them about seeing if i could get cheaper phone calls from J - i'm in the freaking state and pay $5 a call, and with them i'd only have to pay like $3 per call... they say they can help international calls too. might be worth a shot.
even if they could help i am personally wouldnt because if i were to get caught HE would get in trouble and i am not willing to take that risk at least not the way things are now for him. But it looks like a great company thank you for sharing :)
